Random muting trains your internal clock. Unlimited meter patterns. Gradual tempo changes. The metronome that makes you better.
**Strengthen your internal sense of rhythm.**
Time Guru is the only metronome that periodically goes silent—randomly, in patterns, or both—so you discover whether you rush, drag, or lose your place. It's like training wheels that lift off the ground.
**Random & Pattern Muting**
Set any percentage of random muting to test your timekeeping. Or create sequenced muting patterns. Or combine both. You'll quickly learn where your time falls apart—and strengthen it.
**Complex Meter Sequences**
Build unlimited chains of shifting meters: 4/4 → 7/8 → 3/4 → 11/16 → 4/4 → 3/8. Meters go up to 16/x, patterns have no length limit, and you can rearrange them with drag-and-drop.
**Gradual Tempo Changes**
Automatically speed up or slow down over time—perfect for building technique or working up to performance tempo.
**Practice Timer**
Set the metronome to stop after a specified duration. No more glancing at the clock during scale practice.
**Also includes:**
• 35 loud, clear sound sets with accent/unaccent balance control
• Drum machine-style rhythmic patterns
• Voice counting in English, Chinese, French, German & Russian
• Tap tempo (5–300 BPM) with improved responsiveness and accuracy
• iCloud backup and sync of presets across devices
• Light and dark themes
• Full VoiceOver accessibility
• Rock-solid timing via custom audio engine
• Can also be used on Mac (with Apple Silicon M series chips)

To say first - if you haven’t heard Avi Bortnik (the developer) play, check him out. It’s plain to see that he has spent plenty of time thinking about rhythmic ideas, how to listen, and how to fit everything into the pocket with other musicians. All of those ideas translate wonderfully into this metronome. It can be used in a traditional manner (click on every beat), or can be customized for different time signatures, to add extra beats within a time signature, and to drop the click on random beats. The latter is an extremely helpful tool to strengthen one’s inner sense of groove. To round everything out, there are many click sounds available to suit your taste and pair well with whatever instrument that you may be playing. All in all, this is an extremely well thought out and original imagining of what a metronome can be. If you’re looking at metronome options, this is an amazing place to invest $2! Thank you, Avi! This tool has certainly been a great help in my rhythmic studies.
One of a Kind

This metronome has a few features that no other metronome provides, namely the random muting and being able to create any rhythm. A few features that I would like to see in future updates are:1. The ability to rearrange the rhythms created in the meter select area. Currently, if there are multiple meters selected and I want to change the order, I have to delete them and start again. I would like to be able to drag one meter and place it somewhere else in the line up.2. A menu for different rhythmic units. Instead of having to cycle through in decreasing order of duration, I would prefer to open a menu with all available note values to save time when trying to select the right value. 3. 32nd notes! Currently, the shortest note value is the 16th septuplet. It would be nice to just add one more value and get the 32nd note.4. More control over the sounds of strong and weak beats. Currently, there are a lot of options for different timbres, but there is no way to change the sound of beats 1 and 2, for example.Hopefully the developers will be able to continue the innovation that this metronome has already demonstrated.
Simple and Effective

This app is very simple and does exactly what you need it to do, which is to fix your internal sense of time. Practicing with a metronome is essential, but it becomes a crutch when the click never shuts off. Using this allows you to internalize your sense of time by automatically shutting off the sound of the click for a set duration. You can use this solo, or with fellow musicians. One of my favorite drills as a bassist is to loop a groove with a drummer and then work together with this app to see how long we can maintain steady time without click. It is so satisfying when you groove for 15 bars, turn the corner, and hear the click come right back in on one.
Great app but could be more user friendly

This app solves issues no other one does that I’m aware of so it is indispensable in that regard and for that I will give it 5 stars but I hope the developers will provide more of a help section or supply the app with some optional basic preset profiles to start someone off. If you already are someone that tinkers with things without manuals, you’ll find your way around quickly. Mainly writing this for those a bit less tech savvy out there. Intuitiveness of app can be improved but app is definitely great and after you figure it out, extremely nice.
• Export and import of presets
• Display of BPM and initial meters along preset names
• Fixed bug with initial silent meter sounding
