I liked the old app and really had no issues with it and still have the icon on my screen but when I open it it tells me that it has been updated and for me to visit the App Store to complete the update but there when I go there it doesn't have any indication of there being any update! Very frustrating!

I do not like the new update in the end of 2024/early 2025. The app used to have all of the accounts on the home screen, like many other banking apps. Now there is a quick view and you have to click to “view all accounts” or you have to scroll through each account. You can’t view your Merc loans on the scroll view, i.e. the home screen, you have to click “view all accounts” to see them. They also took away the option to make loan payments in quick transfers, you now have to click the menu to navigate to a new loan payments area. In all, they’ve added multiple more clicks to items that used to be intuitive and fast. Look at other mobile banking apps like LMCU, a direct competitor. Its much easier and intuitive and you can see all accounts easily on the home screen and quick transfer to any account including internal loans. All things you used to be able to do in the Merc app. Honestly, I have accounts with both banks and this new app update and ease of loan payments was one factor in taking my new car loan out with LMCU instead.

Newest features built bank & IT, not customers. Offering tools no one asked for, options that don’t meet transactions, fussy graphics and pie charts. Here is what for my banking app:a) Facial recognition — then ask me if I want my business or personal banking account. b) Transfer funds should allow overdraft payment. Not a separate drop down tab and then ask questions about how I want to apply the money. Just show me how much the total is and let me transfer it. c) Overdraft protection should be a product feature not an extortion device. I am about ready to leave mercantile over these new rates. d) show daily transaction limit somewhere. Have increase button for the day that can do an automatic increase without calling bank. e) Add a “i’m traveling” button so account doesn’t lock every-time I leave the state or country, or make an airline purchase outside the country for a future trip. f) add a call branch/Head office/ It dept for help. I swear, if Mercantile cancels the atm reimbursement it will be the last day I bank with you.

So I’ve been a client here for 20+ years and ever since they went to mainly online it has become a joke of a bank. Can’t go inside or talk to anyone without it being a hassle (waiting for them to call back or even answer the phone) just to make a appointment that is days away or weeks away! For a mainly online bank you would think they’d have there own atms around that u can use free of charge, but no let’s take away the ones we did have so you have to pay a surcharge at other atms. Also they don’t offer any loan options other then a mortgage come on your a online bank.. it’s just a Shame what First Bank turned into Mercantile!!
