BIXI is the official mobile application for Montreal’s bike sharing system.

It allows users to purchase short-term access and members to rent a bike without their key and renew their membership. A station map shows in real time the number of bikes and docking points available at each station and you can also plan your routes. Access your personal space to learn more about your trips, transactions and usage statistics.

And of course, get your exercise credit when you pedal with a Health app integration.

Happy riding!

Good system. Still needs some tweaking

Some of the E bikes are locked and some of them don’t operate too well. I’m an experienced Ebike rider/Commuter, 4000 miles a year, visiting from the states. Also the seat posts are sometimes too loose and can’t be adjusted by hand easily shouldHave that corrected.

Tourists be careful

Bixis billing practices are quite dodgy and make you end up spending much more than expected. It’s easy to signup for BIXI unlimited but almost impossible to cancel you have to do it from the website, not the app and they make it confusing, the electric bikes are very expensive and not included in BIXI membership, and most important of all be careful to make sure the bixis properly dock as the docks are finicky or you’ll continue to be charged for hours and hours, I ended up spending nearly $50usd just for a few short rides would have been way better off just renting a bike from the hotel. The rides also bill you after 45 minutes. It’s easy to end yo spending much more then you expected you have to make sure you 1. Cancel on website minute you leave Montreal 2. Make sure all rides are under 45 min and 3. Make absolute sure when you dock your bike you see the little green light, sometimes it “seems” docked but it will actually blink red and keep billing you. Buyer beware

Don’t forget to rehook your bike

The bike borrow works well. I only had two issues with it. For some reason you can’t go beyond an half an hr at a time or it changes you 3 dollars every 15 min. So, you have to use it in half hr increments, which makes trips broken up as your looking for bike stations before you reach your destination. On the other hand, they are all around the city.

Number two, there are no bike stations at St. Joesph’s. So we almost made the mistake of taking our loaners all the way to St. Joseph’s Oratory. That would have been a big mistake. We forgives the reason for no bikes is because they would have to continuously bring bikes to the top of the Moutain, as St. Joseph’s is up a rathe large hill. Chow for now
