FluidCalc is powered by the nonprofit MMANGO. It is an evidence-based clinical decision support tool that helps providers manage and combat diarrheal disease globally!
FluidCalc is a rehydration calculator built upon World Health Organization (WHO) principles for the assessment and management of diarrheal disease in low-resource settings. Dehydration assessments are based on evidence-based dehydration scoring systems published in Lancet Global Health or the conventional WHO classification. The software provides recommendations for rehydration fluids and medications using methods published in Lancet Digital Health.
FluidCalc is intended as a clinical decision-support aid and does not replace professional medical judgment. Healthcare providers remain the sole legally responsible parties for clinical decisions made while using the software. FluidCalc is designed for healthcare providers managing uncomplicated diarrheal disease and ultimately relies on the provider's clinical judgment, training, and scope of practice.
FluidCalc also provides opportunities to learn more about the medicine, science, and public health of diarrheal diseases through informational tabs and links to videos demonstrating the specific examination maneuvers required to effectively manage diarrheal disease. Through tools like FluidCalc, we hope to better combat diarrheal disease, the second leading cause of death among children between 1 month and 5 years of age globally.
