Updating previous review: HUGE IMPROVEMENT

Super happy to see what they’ve done with this app now that it’s smoothed out following the release. Biggest thing is the deck map that I noticed and just generally how to review documents. Looks like they are primarily PDF views which I’m a bigger fan of personally. Deck maps are brand new so super happy those are included now. Seems faster than the old app too from what I’ve seen. Super happy to see the improvements and looking forward to my upcoming cruise! (Can’t delete old app yet due to some features not fully transferred still but no big deal, I could see some old people being frustrated by this with “so many apps” on their phone) the the new app regardless is still good!!

Way too many Notifications!!!

I am currently on a Virgin voyages sailing and while this app is much better than the older sailor app this one still has many issues especially while you’re on board. First, it crashes all of the time! Like, you can’t even browse the event lineup and see what’s going on without it crashing 3-4 times on you. Second, there are WAY too many notifications while you’re on board. Every 30 minutes to an hour I’m getting a notification about booking a shore excursion or booking a private cabana or booking my next cruise. These types of notifications are unnecessary and super annoying. We should have the option to just get the essential notifications without all of the “advertisement” notifications. I want to enjoy my vacation without you always trying to upsell me something on my phone. Not a good look for Virgin tbh. Lastly, there needs to be a better way to book, reserve and get on some type of waitlist for certain things like gym classes or shows. It’s super annoying to want to sign up for something, seeing it’s, “sold out” on the app but then you go anyway to see if there are any no-shows and only 2 other people show up. Either make it first come first serve or make some type of waitlist in the app.

We are on the Resilient Lady right now in the middle of the Resilient Caribbean holiday cruise, and the app continually crashes whenever we try to scroll through the Event Line-Up for the day. When we go to “Discover” then “Event Line-Up” and then start scrolling, it crashes. Constantly. And it crashes 100% of the time when we tap on an event to read about it, and then we tap the back arrow to get back to the list. All of these constant crashes makes it impossible to figure out which events are taking place on the ship. It seems to crash the most when scrolling through days that have a lot of events, but is better on days that only have a few events — which makes the problem even worse! Another problem is that when you switch from the “Me” tab back to the “Discover” tab, it forgets where you were on the discover tab so it starts you all the way back at the very top of the day and you have to scroll endlessly to get back to where you were later in the day. The usability of this app is soooo incredibly poor. Also, there is an entire “messaging” part of this app where you can scan other sailors’ QR codes, but you actually can’t message them through the app! Very misleading.

First time with Virgin. Nightmare and we haven’t set sail. Been apologized to more times than I can count. Here’s some ideas - list information about my cruise (travel agents have it, why don’t I?), if I book an elevated status provide info specific to me (don’t give me the main # to call if I should be calling red glove - how was I to know?), provide a more detailed upgrade offer experience, show me how many suites available for my offer, show me how many offers exist (not value, just a count - if I see 1 available with 5 offers I may increase my bid (more revenue)), publish a daily update that is pertinent to my cruise starting 2 weeks prior to sail (small, but digestible tidbits - like there’s a costume contest, who knew? 1 call said no, another said in lieu of scarlet night, 1 said scarlet night turns into Scarlet fright, 1 was calling the ship, 1 received info it’s a no, then read me the details, that I don’t have, says yes…another call to the ship! Cut costs by daily info, reduce multiple calls to service (they aren’t reliable anyway), so many ideas for improvement, forget low hanging fruit…you have watermelons rolling on the ground! Sent an email to contact me! I design systems, this whole engagement model is abhorrent.

This update fixes issues across key pre-cruise and onboard experiences. We resolved problems with social login and Claim a Booking flows, improved Ready to Sail tasks such as travel document uploads and payment methods, and fixed incorrect pricing and availability displays for Shore Things, Line-Up events, Spa, and Add-Ons. We also addressed issues with notifications, booking confirmations, and Sailor mate interactions. You’ll notice improved stability, fewer booking errors, faster load times, and a more reliable experience throughout your journey.
