This update makes Syndic ready for iPhone Duo, opens faster, and keeps your timeline calmer and more dependable. • Ready for iPhone Duo: folded, Syndic opens straight on your timeline for quick reading, with the controls in the vertical bar; unfolded, you get the full layout to see and organize everything. • Syndic now opens instantly with the articles from your last session, instead of starting with an empty timeline while feeds load. • Your timeline shows the newest articles of each feed, even for sites that list their stories in editorial order rather than newest first. • Live blogs no longer jump to the top of your timeline every time they are updated. • The refresh icon now spins only while you are refreshing, not during the quiet background updates, and slow feeds no longer keep it spinning. • Short previews now open in full on iPhone and iPad too: when a feed only sends a line or a teaser (like BBC News or ABC News), the whole article is fetched automatically. If the full text can't be reached, you simply keep the short version. • The source of each article is back above the headline, in small letters, as well as in the footer. • The opening letter no longer picks up quotation marks. • A calmer Settings: no more subtitles or table-style borders, and a new option in Appearance to change the text size of Settings, with a reset button. • A reworked Coffee screen: "Get yourself a good coffee" and a button to talk to Syndic by email, for suggestions. • Localization cleanup across all languages. • Various small polish and reliability fixes.

This update gives articles a calmer, more editorial look, makes getting around on iPhone feel smoother, and makes the feeds in Discover more dependable. - A redesigned article view on Mac, iPhone, and iPad: the cover photo or video now sits on top, followed by the headline, a short summary, and an opening letter that sets the text apart. - The Ember theme now reads in an elegant serif typeface, while the default Syndic theme keeps its familiar look. - Every article ends with a tidy footer showing the author, the source, and the date, plus a "Read more" button when there is more to read. - Smoother navigation on iPhone: swipe right to go back, and swipe left to jump to your Inbox or to the article you were reading. Screens now glide along with your finger as rounded cards, with a preview of where you're heading. - A new loading screen for your Inbox: a colorful animated ring counts down the feeds still on their way, with friendly messages while your timeline gets ready. - On iPhone, the list now has an arrow to jump straight back to the top, and Search moves into the "more" menu next to Refresh. - Photo captions now appear as "Photo:" under the headline, and match the right picture in galleries. - On Mac, click any photo to see it larger, floating over the whole window. Click outside it, or press Esc, to go back to the article. - Photos and videos that some publishers keep behind "Continue reading" now show up in the full article. - Videos now appear as the cover in more feeds. - Fixed long divider lines in some articles that could make the page scroll sideways. - Short previews now open in full on Mac: when a feed only sends a line or a teaser (like ABC News or El País), the whole article is fetched automatically, with no need to tap "Read more". If the full text can't be reached, you simply keep the short version. - Easier reading on Mac: a little more comfortable line spacing, and more breathing room between the end of an article and its footer. - Posts from Mastodon, Bluesky, and Reddit on Mac now follow the same tidy layout as articles, with the author shown in the footer, and without the extra tags and "view" links. - The opening letter now also appears on articles that come as a single, longer paragraph, on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. - Cleaner endings: leftover lines that some sites add automatically (such as "This article first appeared on…") are gone. - On Mac, the "+" menu now opens and closes silently, and its sound setting is gone. - Fixed blank gaps that could appear in the timeline when the same article arrived from two feeds. - On Mac, fixed a feed that could go missing from the sidebar after its folder had been deleted on another device. It now shows up with your other feeds. - Discover refreshed: Boxing News Online joins Sports, and three feeds that no longer fit (Codrops, Hacker News, and CSS-Tricks) are gone. - Various small polish and reliability fixes.

This update gives you more control over your feeds and makes backing them up something you can actually see happening, instead of just hoping it did. - New Settings > Feeds screen lists every feed you follow in one place, with search, so you can quickly rename or remove any feed — on both Mac and iPhone/iPad. - Listen to any article read aloud, or translate it, right from the toolbar — on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. - On Mac, hover over an article in the Timeline to save it to Favorites or Read Later without opening it — there's a toggle in Settings if you'd rather not. - A new backup reminder in the Mac sidebar nudges you to back up your feeds, and now shows the actual date of your last backup instead of a generic message. - Inbox now expands into Articles, Podcasts, Videos, and Social on both Mac and iPhone/iPad, so you can jump straight to the kind of content you want. - Fixed an issue on iPhone/iPad where refreshing could shift the article list while you were reading headlines. - On iPhone and iPad, swiping back from an article list is now much easier: it works from a wider area of the left edge, not just the very edge of the screen. - The Coffee screen is now simply a way to say hi — its button opens an email to the developer, and Syndic no longer includes any in-app purchase. - Fixed a missing Articles icon in the sidebar on iOS 17, and made the Inbox title and the icons under it easier to see. - On Mac, the Reader Mode button in the article view is now more compact, fitting its label instead of stretching across the whole column. - Settings reorganized into clearer sections throughout the app. - Various small polish and reliability fixes.
