New Terminal mode: a command line on the remote computer. It needs Remote Utilities Host 7.9 or later on Windows, or 2.1.1 or later on macOS and Linux.
Remote Utilities gives you full remote access to your Windows, macOS and Linux computers from your iPhone or iPad — over the Internet or LAN, with zero network configuration. View the remote desktop, control the mouse and keyboard, transfer files and manage power, all from one app.
Free for personal and business use alike — no ads.

Oh I love how you fix macOS Mojave Big Sur Catalina Monterey host bugs by completely dropping support for all of them instead of actually fixing the app.We don’t find out that surprise feature until after your installer successfully installs onto older versions of macOS and then surprises us with a message saying you need Ventura to actually run the application. Thanks a lot for all of us that can’t use screen sharing because Apple won’t provide a patch, you were our last hope.Meanwhile you support windows all the way back to XP, really?

We are sorry for the inconvenience this caused. The update replaced the old app with a completely new application, and the old app's saved connections use an incompatible format, so they could not be carried over automatically — this is a known limitation of the transition, noted in the first line of the What's New section, not a defect. Instead of re-adding every computer by hand, you can import your desktop Remote Utilities address book file directly into the new app. Thank you for posting the recovery steps for other users, and for still giving the new app a measured rating despite the trouble — we know there is room to improve.
Fast to take your money, but never delivers promised features

They will not hesitate to take your money for a license, and the software isn’t bad as long as you assume you will never get new features or fixes, even if they promise them. Check out their support forums, they are full of promises and upset customers who have been told for years that XXX feature is right around the corner, and it never appears. If you want software with trustworthy customer support, look somewhere else.

It is fair that the mobile app went a long time with few updates while the desktop software moved ahead. Rather than answer that with another promise, we can point to what has already shipped: the old app has been replaced with a completely new application, a full mobile version of our desktop Viewer, and it is now developed and released alongside the current desktop version. It is worth another look.
Not that great

Hoping to find an alternative to Teamviewer, which goes through their server before accessing the remote pc, I installed RU and found that it was just a very basic remote control app. I couldn't transfer files which is why I was looking for an alternative. A lot of the time the mouse would not work within the app though you could move it around. You just couldn't 'click' on anything on the remote pc. There is also no help pdf specifically for the iOS version.
Developer Response
Those limits were real at the time. The app has since been rebuilt as a full mobile version of our desktop Viewer, and both gaps you named are covered: a dedicated File Transfer mode, and a Trackpad input mode with a visible cursor so clicks land where you point. The app also has Help built-in. It is worth another look.
Windows viewer works great but this does not

Only supports single password. Plus, it takes 4-5 connection attempts before it actually connects. And the error log simply says “connection to ___ failed”. Can’t figure out what’s going on.I’m going to contact support and hopefully I can bump this up to 5 stars at a later date!
Developer Response
Both problems were real. The old app supported only a single password and had fallen behind current Host versions, which caused exactly the failed connection attempts you saw. It has since been replaced with a brand-new app that supports single password, Remote Utilities login and password, and custom server security, and is fully compatible with current Hosts. We would appreciate an updated review if it works well for you now.
New: Terminal mode. A command line on the remote computer, right on your phone or tablet. Works with Host for Windows 7.9 and later (Command Prompt, PowerShell) and with Host for Linux and macOS 2.1.1 and later (the shells installed on the computer). Choose the shell and the user context (System or the logged-on user). A key bar above the keyboard adds Esc, Tab, Ctrl, Alt and the arrow keys; the output history scrolls, text can be selected, copied and pasted, and the text size changes with a pinch. Terminal is available in the connection mode menu, as the default tap action and from the session toolbar.
Also in this version:
- Fixed: in a synced address book, a password saved after it had been changed on the Host was requested again at the next connection.
- After an automatic reconnection the session restores the previous zoom and screen position.
- iOS 27: fixed the missing edit menu (Paste, Copy, Cut, Select) in text fields, including the password prompt.
- File Transfer: a file that the Host cannot provide is skipped with a message and the remaining files are copied. A message is shown when the Host denies access to a folder.
- Clipboard: text copied while the app was in the background is sent to the Host when you return to the session; HTML content from a Host for Windows is now transferred correctly.
- Fixed: the connection thumbnail was not updated after a session.
- Improved compatibility with Hosts of version 7.2 and older.
- Help: new Terminal and Clipboard sections in all 24 languages. Interface translations updated.
- Minor fixes and improvements. Requires iOS 18 or later.
