What’s New

Version 1.6.2

- Brand new Apollo Ultra icon by the incredible Thomas Noppers, called “The Copper Giant”, it has such a fun, nostalgic feel, I love how Thomas designed it.
- Dark Mode improvements/bug fixes for edge cases (if you still encounter something weird, gimme a shout!)
- More Dark Mode settings so you can tweak it to your liking
- Fixed bug where red Inbox badge wouldn't show up
- Fixed bug where posts could flicker as you scroll sometimes
- Fixed bug where media viewer could be zoomed in weirdly on iPad in split view
- Fixed bug where navigation bar icons could go for a walk
- Improvements to double-tap-and-drag-to-zoom (like in Maps) so it should be faster (if it's not working for you make sure you're on iOS 13.1)
- Context menu has Open in YouTube app option
- Light mode/dark mode launch screens
- Fixed some weird colors
- Comment composer now properly respects text sizing preferences as an Accessibility improvement
- Bunch of other little bug fixes here and there! :D
- And this is all in addition to the bunch of awesome iOS 13 additions listed below!

Firstly, Apollo has some great new visual touches, like supporting the new Dark Mode in iOS 13! So if you enable Dark Mode system wide, Apollo will follow the rest of the apps as well as iOS in pulling the curtains down, giving you a beautiful, dark look. You can customize this in Apollo's settings as well, from themes to how dark you want "dark" to be, and more!

iOS 13 also brought about a bunch of awesome speed and size improvements. Apollo should be (even more of) a lean, mean, fighting machine. The app is smaller to download, and much quicker to open to boot. Nice! Enjoy Redditing with even more speed than you were used to before.

Siri Shortcuts support! Apollo now works with the (now built-in) Siri Shortcuts app, so you can set up custom shortcut scripts that work with Apollo (like opening subreddits, users, etc.) or even program them to work with Siri. There's no better way to start your day than with a custom command like "Hey siri, fire the meme cannon" to open r/memes.

Keyboard and Game Controller support. In addition to previous game controller support, iOS 13 added support for some very popular console controllers, so those all now work with Apollo, in addition to regular hardware keyboards, like keyboard cases! So now you can kick your feet up with a controller, or set up a keyboard, and navigate Apollo with ease, opening and reading comments, opening and closing the media viewer, etc.

Better Accessibility support. I want Apollo to be the best browsing experience for Reddit for *everyone*, so I worked really hard to improve how accessible Apollo is for everyone. It now has much, much improved VoiceOver support for navigating the UI, even with custom swiping actions to open the media viewer for instance. In addition it also supports iOS 13's new Voice Control feature, so you can control Apollo without even touching it.

There's also LOTS more improvements, like being able to open multiple, different windows of Apollo on iPads, which is a personal favorite of mine and great for referencing multiple things on Reddit at once. Before iOS 13 you'd need 3 iPads to view 3 different Apollo windows, now you can do it with one iPad! Talk about cost savings!

There's also support for the new, beautiful Haptic Touch Context Menus in iOS 13, so every device can now preview media beautifully and easily.

Onward and upward! As always, thank you so much for the support, a tip helps immensely. :)

Best app ever?

Seriously this is the best app I’ve ever used. Sleek, responsive, super easy to use, destroys the competition and best of all its freeeeee. And the pro version of the app is 100% worth it unless you don’t reddit on mobile that often and even then I think it’s hella worth. Now I use my mobile to surf reddit instead of my desktop lol.

Just a few notes I wanted to leave for the dev. Just nip pick stuff nothing serious. 1.) Is there anyway you could make the upvote and downvote buttons slightly bigger..? I find myself fat fingering and opening things that are already right in front of me. 2.) I had trouble tipping to upgrade to pro when I tried. Idk if it’s on your end or stupid Apple Pay crap but when I would click the tips it would just forever lag. I tried multiple times and after several attempts today I finally got it to go through. Just figured it was worth checking into Incase it’s happening to others too. 3.) The only thing missing in the comment selector(three lil dots) is a block the user option. That’s the only problem I’ve had with this app really and I’d really like to see that added at some point.

Thanks for all your hard work and great job on a fantastic app. Who knows maybe reddit will wise and make Apollo the official reddit app and stop trying to compete with real deal 🤟

Absolutely Stellar App, Developer is 🔥

Apollo is by far the most-used app on my phone (and now I have the ScreenTime reports to prove it). It is orders of magnitude better than the “official” reddit app and is superior in every way. It is fast and smooth and packed with features. I especially love that I can pick the theme I want, change the icon, and remove ads! The thing I hated most about the official app was the ads that were disguised as legitimate posts and with Apollo that’s all gone!

I bought the Pro upgrade months ago to gain access to additional features and it was one of the few in-app purchases I have never regretted or felt like wasn’t worth the cost. Today the developer released an update adding a bunch of new features that require a very reasonable (seems underpriced to be honest) monthly subscription, and like a true bro he has the option to unlock it for life with a onetime purchase! I hate monthly and even yearly subscriptions so I especially appreciated this option.

All that by itself should convince you that this app is worth it, but the thing that really seals the deal is the developer. He is amazing. Super active with feedback and very open in his communication about the status of the app’s development and requested features.

Customization Options Set It Apart

I’ve been an avid user of the official Reddit app and have done years of time wasting on it but have been recently using both since downloading Apollo as they each have their own individual benefits.

However, I recently upgraded to the Ultra plan and made a one time purchase to unlock certain features and was well worth it and will be using Apollo as my primary Reddit app, not seeing any real need now to switch between. It also was impactful when I discovered the multireddit option on Apollo, that allows the individualized creation of a thematic, conglomerate of subreddits combined into one

The customization options really are great and implement features I’d hoped the official app would have done long ago, most of which were available without purchase of any add ons. I also appreciate how the devs of this app respect the platform created by Reddit, (loading both apps produce the exact same content) and not trying to alter how the site runs or the algorithms used, just improved UI functionality and options.
