LiveFrame 4+

I finally got this working on an old iPad mini to work as a picture frame. The two non-obvious steps were disabling lock screen mode (settings only available during the slideshow) and paying to avoid ads. Very happy.

I then went to install this on a second, older iPad v1 that only has ios5. I was happy to see that there was a version available (it appears some of the data feeds are limited, but I can live with that). But now it appears there is a problem with “restoring prior purchase”. It isn’t working for me.

Should my payment give me access on multiple machines? Do I need to buy it again?

There should not be an issue restoring your purchase on devices as long as you are using the same Apple ID that you made the purchase under. You could also try restarting the device.

I don’t ever review apps, I’m not sure why. However this one has been nothing but great. I’m using it on an iPad I have framed to turn an unused old slow iPad into a gorgeous digital picture frame. This app doesn’t disappoint and you can’t tell you’re looking at an iPad (except for the picture quality). We were able to seamlessly select the Apple share drive we have all my sons pictures on and shuffle them. There are over 1800 photos now shuffling and auto updating as we add more to the share. I love you can tell the app to turn off at a certain time. My only request is to have the app turn ON at a certain time, and begin shuffling photos immediately. I can tell my jailbroken ipad to turn on at a certain time, and then the app to open and shuffle automatically. And then it’ll turn off at a specific time. It would be nice to have my frame running 5p-12p every day automatically. Here’s hoping they add it, but nonetheless, definitely recommend it. It’s $2, don’t bother with the ads/free version. Just spend the $2.

I wanted a Shared Album slideshow that my mom could start with a Siri voice command after she uses Siri to check her Messages and Calendar. I couldn’t figure a way to do that, even with Shortcuts. This does that (“Hey Siri, open LiveFrame”) and a lot more. The slideshow can include not only photos from your iPad, but also from all your social media accounts, which is pretty neat.

Things I figured out about the app that other users might want to know: photos are ordered by creation date, not upload date as stated on the web page; Disable Lock Screen works per the web page, not the App Store page; Check for New Photos works per the web page, not the App Store page; and captions are IPTC captions, not the other things like title, file name, and Photos description that might be considered a caption.
