Description

No account registration! No e-mail harvesting! No spam!
QueryDB has spent over 13 years helping developers remotely query their MySQL databases on iOS. It's not just a desktop port: it handles flakey cellular network connections and delivering your data wherever you are!

• Integrated UI support for parameterized queries
• Optimized to run queries over low quality network connections.
• Does not maintain persistent connections to your database
• Automatically windows data requests to prevent client overload when
querying large tables.
• Support for MPTCP for seamless network transitions between Wifi and cellular networks (SSH server and routers must also support)
• Query oriented workflow.
• Run queries with minimal steps.
• Run the same queries across different environments (e.g. prod, staging, dev).
• Support for Siri Shortcuts for both UI and scripting purposes
• Unicode support.
• Automatically sets to default database charset.
• iCloud support
• Easily synchronize servers and queries across all your devices.
• CSV export through iOS extensions
• Easily export data to Numbers, Files, and other sharing extensions that support CSV.
• Premium/Paid support for SSL connections and SSH tunneling

Comprehensive MySQL version support: Versions 4,x, 5.x, and 8.x, Amazon Aurora, Google SQL, MariaDB.

QueryDB was first introduced on iOS 6 and has constantly been revised to keep up with iOS, iPad, MySQL, and SSH revisions. It currently works all the way back to iOS 9 and MySQL 5.x, up through iOS 13 and MySQL 8.x.
On top of an 13 year record, it continues to offer features absent from others like parameterized queries, Siri shortcuts.

For the past 13 years, we've only charged for Ad removal and SSH support, leaving basics like un-encrypted db access and CSV export available for free. Our hope is to continue offering basic access for free while charging a nominal fee to others who would use it in a professional capacity. However, the increasing combinations of iOS, iPadOS, watchOS, SSH/SSL, and MySQL versions have substantially increased the burden of development, maintenance, and testing.

To help keep up with the pace of change, we're switching to a one-time fee for all features with support for subscriptions at a later date. As a thank you to all users who purchased the Remove Ads option, they'll all be grandfathered into the new Premium tier (it will use the same in-app purchase product). From this version on, the one-time premium purchase will match the price of the MySQL QueryDB SSH product since they're identical.

From a fello iOS dev

It woeks well & is simple. I would suggest to tone down the ads & opt for in app purchases that add value. Also, the tableviews could use some styling. Lastly, number of rows returned should show at top. Nice work!

Developer Response ,

Thanks for the feedback! We’re currently re-evaluating our revenue model. The ads may be annoying, but otherwise, the entire app is free. Contrast this with other similar apps that are over 10x more expensive (upfront), or charge you using a subscription. The utility of the current in-app purchase is that you no longer have to see the ads.
In the future, we may change the in-app purchase to unlock a limited the number of queries, servers, or rows one can see. Existing in-app purchases will always retain functionality, but free usage may be limited in the future in order to help maintain the app.

The ads will kill you

Used it once. Ran a query and an ad exploded in my face. Deleted.

Developer got offended because I gave an honest review. Poor baby. Here’s the problem... Many apps have ads. There are ads and THERE ARE ADS. In this case, the ads take over the entire screen and prevent any further action until they pass or are dismissed. This essentially discourages the reasonable evaluation of the app, which therefore prevents upselling to the paid version.

To the developer - LISTEN to your reviewers and try to understand why they’re giving you poor ratings instead of getting offended. Many here are saying the same thing - the ads are too “in your face”. I, for one, don’t tolerate this and therefore deleted the app and left a 1 star rating. I don’t care that you’ve been trying to succeed (apparently without much progress) since 2012, as it is apparent why you’ve been unsuccessful in almost 10 years of trying - you don’t listen to your market.

Developer Response ,

From our first release back in 2012, we've offered a free to use version of our product that offered fast queries over flakey mobile connections. Fast forward to 2021 and we now offer parameterized queries, Multipath TCP, Siri Shortcut scripting, iCloud, SSH, SSL, dark mode, iPad 12.9", etc support, most of which remains free.
In the meantime, the competitors of 2012 have all vanished. Yes there are ads to help offset our expenses. Don't want them? We offer a one-time purchase to upgrade to the full version. Back in 2012, it was only $0.99 to get rid of the ads. Those original purchasers now enjoy the additional features added for the past 9 years in addition to once premium features like SSH/SSL.
Within the landscape of similar apps: many charge costly subscription rates, only offer free tiers that connect to sample databases, or don't offer basic functionality (e.g., parameterized queries). Considering ads have been around for a while in mobile apps (and the internet) for quite some time, we're a bit puzzled that someone would go through the effort to give us a 1 star review because of them.

Buy no ads twice?

Already had the no-ads version, updated, and now it wants to charge 8.99 for no-ads?

There's no option to restore previously purchased options (something that is required by Apple for apps).

Edit: Developer says to restore purchases but there is no way to do that (as I pointed out).

Developer Response ,

Edit: sorry if it wasn’t clear. Just do the purchase again. After the purchase (unfortunately not before...) it will say you already purchased and won’t be charged again.

Original response:
Hi,

The product Id has never changed. If you bought it previously, it will just restore the purchase. Again, it’s a non-consumable item and we’ve never created another product id to purchase. So it’s impossible to purchase twice. Make sure you are using the same Apple ID you used for your previous purchase.

We’ll add a Restore purchases option in the future to lessen the confusion.

In the meantime, we hope you enjoy the free upgrade to the SSH version and update your rating.

There’s also a feedback function in the app if you would like to get direct support in the future.
