Description

Get your ideas down quickly with Nocturne. When a complete studio is overkill, Nocturne gives you the immediate freedom to improvise and iterate. Just connect your MIDI device to your Mac (adapters may be required) and tap record. Nocturne works great with electric pianos and supports not just the sustain pedal, but also the soft and sostenuto pedals so you can capture the most complete, faithful MIDI representation of your performance.

Or, if you're away from your MIDI controller, use the on-screen piano keyboard to save your idea. When you're done, tap the track to hear it and drag the yellow bar left and right to review a specific part. When you’ve got something worth keeping, share your MIDI file with another app for additional editing and mastering.

Nocturne is ready to capture one or more takes of your song at a moment’s notice, so when inspiration strikes, ditch the “smart” bands and granular settings and focus on playing instead.

I got it to capture ideas. Impossible to export them

As it says in the product description “When you’ve got something worth keeping, you’ll want to use the right tool for the job: share your MIDI file with a computer for additional editing and mastering.”

i couldn’t find that feature for the life of me, even on their website. But reading a review found it. Swipe left.

Text annotation

Very simple and elegant app! But adding text information for a piece of recording is very limited. It would be better if it’s allowed to add some text description for each single track in a project.

Inaccurate recording of rhythm

There seems to be an issue with the timing of midi events. They are not captured precisely in time. I am professional pianist (and developer) who was hoping to grab my midi data from various gigs on keyboards to use for training data in ML tasks, but this program fell short on multiple keyboard models. Which is surprising for a company that released such a beautiful app as forScore. I will certainly continue using forScore daily while recommending it to others, but this particular app needs some serious QA work on various peripherals if the app is going to cost money. I was let down..
