Ratings and Reviews
Yamaha ATS-2090 Sound Bar Volume
While the Yamaha ATS-2090 Sound Bar has superb sound, it seems like almost every day the volume gets stuck at a constant decibel level (i.e. I can’t turn the volume up or down). I basically I have to re-set the system by unplugging it and re-connecting, before I can adjust the volume. Not sure if it is an equipment malfunction or a software glitch. Either way, I haven’t been able to figure out how to stop the problem from recurring.

Why change the volume every time?
Immediately opening the app two things happen that are very problematic. First the sound bar volume jumps up several levels and then I get neighbors complaining. Second it automatically changes the volume of my device that the app is installed on. I don’t want my device volume changing.
My battery has died in the remote and I have no way to change it, without going to a local battery dealer because I don’t have the strength to open it and buy a replacement cheaper. So I just installed the app and I hate it. My landlord has warned me about the sound level and I cannot afford to lose my apartment. I cannot hear my TV through the speakers which are on the back of the unit and the level that I have to use also is too loud for the neighbors.
I can’t win. I thought a sound bar would be a better choice and it was, until the battery died.
This app is garbage currently. The older version worked a little better, but since the last major release it is now unusable.
App will not connect to Wi-Fi
Poorly designed app with an even worse user interface.
I was able to connect my sound bar to our home Wi-Fi for the 18-20 months I have had my ATS-2090 sound bar. However, recently I noticed that my subwoofer was not working. I nailed the problem down to the sound bar not being connected to our home Wi-Fi anymore, nor was it recognized by the Yamaha app. I have reset the sound bar and attempted to add it again to the Yamaha app, but I am unable to as the app consistently tells me I am entering in the incorrect Wi-Fi password. I am not, I have copied the password verbatim and attempted to do this 5-7 times with no luck.
It’s unfortunate that an poorly designed app has rendered my sound bar nearly entirely useless.
