Why did specialized choose to reduce instead of increase features with new app

Don’t get me wrong I love the app once you get the hang of how to set it up it is quite amazing giving you a lot of great info about your ride BUT why the had to remove the ability to set basically limitless presets for personalizing the power and ease (formerly support) setting is totally beyond me I sure hope they bring that back it was so nice to be able to quickly set up and remember many different setting instead of the current, just three, to me that’s a real bummer. They appear to have played with the smart ride mode in relation to heart rate settings as well. personally I liked the two different slide setting you could use to set up the power and support settings in the previous iteration of the specialized app called Mission Control. when you don’t have steady hand like me I could quickly and easily set each level to right where I wanted it with individual slider controls doing both things at once getting both setting to go and stop right where I want them is way more challenging then before but I guess young kids who grew up playing video games feel right at home with this set up.
Finally just wish they would give us the final consumer the choice of which app they wanted to use !!! All in all the newer app is still pretty awesome

Thanks for the constructive feedback, Bigbird!

Excellent, somewhat limited

Very useful and pleasant to use. I almost never use apps for products or services but this does provide real value. I’d love to see a way to save my tune presets for commuting, exercising, etc instead of having to remember what settings I like or relying on screenshots. I’d love to see the HRM used to keep me in a zone by dynamically adjusting motor power and ease on the fly. I’d love to see some kind of navigation integrated or bike route recognition built in. Very good early effort! Let’s hope Specialized continues to evolve and improve this into a powerful bike companion app. Finally, less likely, I’d love to see some of that diagnostic data that’s being collected.

Update: it’s a real shame that the only data exported to Apple Health is ride duration. Would be nice to have power and cadence and other actually measurably useful data shared to track training progress.

All in all this app provides minimum viable functionality for a premier, high end product. Seems pretty stable though.

Thanks for the rating, review, and feature requests! We have a huge roadmap ahead of us, so please stay tuned over the next several months :)

Mostly good but…

A few issues: 1. Map is too large making it difficult to read ride data. How about options to hide the map and increase text font size. 2. With units set to imperial, data shows imperial in the app but data on bike shows metric. 3. Option to change the clock from 24 hour display to 12 hours. Is this related to #2? 4. A toggle to turn on/off light. 5. Alarm volume is laughably low, almost inaudible. Reminds me of the extremely low volume of the tones you hear when taking a hearing test. I just wonder if a thief would even hear it. Certainly no one nearby would. Why bother? In response to your questions, yes the light is reference to item #4. I ride a Turbo Vado SL 5.0 EQ
UPDATE: I’ve resolved items 2 & 3 on my list. Took my bike to a Specialized dealer. The mechanic showed me the settings menu on the TCU on the bike by press both the + and - buttons at same time on the power assist remote on the handlebars. Use the + - buttons to scroll up and down and the top and bottom buttons to set new settings which include Units, Date/Time, Sensors, Altitude and Regulatory. Hope this helps someone out. I did not see this information in the manual although the mechanic said it was there.
ANOTHER QUESTION: If using a heart rate monitor, will the Specialized app display live heart rate during a ride?

Developer Response ,

Hi tterrierr - Yes, if you pair your heart rate monitor with the Specialized app you can select heart rate from the list of metrics on the Record tab. Enjoy your next ride!
