We just finished our usual weekly visit. Pinocchio’s is rightly known for it’s huge Cricket sandwich. Monday was once cream of asparagus soup day, which my wife loved — no more. The ample portions and selection of pastas are delicious and highly recommended. The freshened decor is heavily Disney Pinocchio (the family had the name first) with a lot of iconic Italian signs and images thrown in — there’s always something fun to look at. The staff is attentive and friendly — after a few visits we feel like family. In these “uncertain times” small businesses are failing left and right. Recently, we learned the owner refused payment (donated) dozens of sandwiches to feed firefighters working the massive fires raging throughout California and fed 100 Red Cross workers at no charge. The business is doing well and still proudly supports their community. Great food. Great staff. Great hearts in hard times. What’s not to love?

If you are going there make sure you get a receipt. There is a man that sits in there and sometimes greets people at the door. I’m not sure if he is the owner or not but he is a cheat and a liar. He comes over for certain customers i don’t know if it’s mainly African American people to ring up the food. He then changes the price for everything. I use to go there frequently back in the day. I loved the way they used spices in the food . They use a little less spices I feel now. I haven’t been in there for a 2 years or so . Today I went in just to get 2 samosas which is $2.25 each. The employee behind the counter serviced me but that man came over to ring me up. I gave him $10 he gave me back a dime. I asked him how much it was and they both started talking to me to confuse me. He at the end gave me my $5 dollars back. But that is such bad business practices . How can the employees be comfortable with this type of behavior from their boss. Yuck. I don’t even feel like eating those samosas. He needs to be exposed. I feel the place will be much better without him.
