There have been numerous times when I couldn’t even get to checkout without errors. Why is the point system so difficult to redeem as well. It should show me what I can redeem exactly but instead I have to google it, google says I can do the basic meals for gold, I try to redeem a basic meal and I’m prompted with a message saying I can’t do that meal. Please look at your competitors like Chick Fil A’s app which is incredibly easier to use and the point system actually works? Restaurant itself is great but I could not imagine having such a terrible app

DISCLAIMER: This review is being written towards the app, not the restaurant itselfI was at Dave’s Hot Chicken once while hanging out with a friend and I absolutely loved their food that I knew I had to come back again one day. So today, I tried to order my meal through this app, which when I do, it first gave me an error that the request timed out. I then went to try and order again on the app when this time, I get another error, which was when both attempts of trying to pay on the app appeared into my bank account as a pending charge. So I then tried to call the restaurant location that I was trying to pick up my order from when the employee on the phone says that they don’t even see both orders have went through to their systems! This was when as soon as I have arrived to the restaurant, I would have to show the employee proof that the Dave’s Hot Chicken app had tried to charge me for two orders that didn’t even go through to the restaurant. Since the employees were not able to receive my order, there was nothing they could do and I had to order my meal again and wait longer than planned since it was a walk-in. I could never imagine having a restaurant app that can’t even send orders to the restaurant, but will try to charge your card for the meal anyway. Dave, if you are reading this review, please fix your restaurant app. I love the food at Dave’s, but it would feel disappointing to not have a well-functional app to place orders ahead of time

We love Dave’s Hot Chicken and it’s literally my son’s favorite place. Today we ordered on the app and arrived at the store a few minutes later. Our first cashier was great and communicated well letting us know our food would be out in a few minutes. She then went to the kitchen and was replaced up front by another female cashier. An order or two were given to other customers and then an order that looked like ours was bagged and placed on the counter. The cashier then turned her attention to other things, leaving that order sitting in the counter for a really long time. After 5-10 minutes, the original cashier came out (and was wonderfully pleasant like the first interaction), and asked the other one if the order for Jason was waiting on anything and it was not. It had just sat there on the counter for all that time for no reason. Not sure what the issue was as we had no interaction at all with the second cashier, but the service was really off putting. It felt intentional. We’ll probably be back, but on a shorter leash.

This review is for the app only. The restaurant and food are amazing! Unfortunately the app is not a great experience. It’s so helpful to be asked to use it to order ahead because the food is cooked to order and can take longer than a typical fast food place that uses a microwave or preheated food. BIG BUT… when you go to checkout they automatically have a 15% tip set as the default, which adds a decent chunk to your bill. If you happen to notice the extra cost, it’s usually too late to go back and change the tip. If you re-order using a previous order that has the tip included (not by your choice), then it also copies the tip % and it’s really hard to catch. The bottom line is that the default setting for a tip should be zero% and we should be able to knowingly chose the amount we want to tip, instead of being tricked into paying more. If they did this same practice of adding 15% to every bill when you’re ordering inside the restaurant at the cashier, I’m pretty sure people would not be happy!!!
