FIDIUM uses fiber optics which means you have a dedicated line to your house. Super fast connectivity and reliable signal versus cable. Night and day change!! Spectrum cable uses coaxial cables which means you share with all your neighbors and likewise get throttled back if it’s a busy time. Do you ever see a spinning circle? Pixelated screens? Won’t connect? No internet found? I had all of that. Thought it was my router. Nope. Thought my phone was to blame. Not true. It was the service! Spectrum cable uses outdated technology which results in subpar connectivity and speed. It’s super expensive and unreliable. Some apps will require you to “connect to a service provider” so you shouldn’t ditch it all together. However, Fidium is far and away superior. Highly recommend 👏😎

You can’t turn off your Wi-Fi (save power and improve security)nor change its channel nor limit it to only 5g or 2.4g. You can’t turn off UPnP. The only network encryption/security options you have is the password. Who knows if your network is using poor encryption methods or not and you can’t disable it. You are also limited to having only one cell phone controlling the router. If you want to use a different phone you have to call them to change registrations. You must use Bluetooth during setup. Control from a PC is not possible. There are some filtering toggles, but no explanation on how they work. How does the gateway protect my PC files from ransomware and crypto miners? What are the sources for ad and adult content blocking? Why do the pods say they have firmware updates yet they won’t update? Why does the app size in the App Store say it’s size is 132mb while the iPhone says it’s 387mb (not counting user data)? This is the second largest app on my phone! Routers from 30 years ago had more functionality than this app based system. This system is completely unacceptable and as the main go to guy for tech things I will never recommend your services to everyone who asks me while you keep this system so locked down. If you want to have basic and advanced modes then fine, but basic only is unacceptable. Finally check your local laws. You’re forced to rent the hardware from these guys ($10 a month) and that’s now illegal in some areas.

A good idea, poorly executed. I’m not against the idea of a user interface to monitor a network and to make changes easier, but this app is far to restrictive. It offers no way to access or manipulate the router’s radio bands. They cannot be turned off and on, and there is no way to control individual channels. The reports it provides often mistakenly identify WiFi device connections as being Ethernet connections, even on devices that are not Ethernet capable. There is also no way at all to control the Ethernet ports. I’m sure it has other shortcomings that I haven’t noticed yet. The frosting on this unbaked cake is that Fidium also locks you out of the actual router’s administrative control functions, leaving the Attune app or the help desk as your only option.

In concept, this is a great system, however my Internet goes out as much or more often than Comcast don’t believe the lies that they tell you I have witness that the salesman said this was perfect to work from home yet it constantly goes out. I have witnessed that the technician who came said there’s problems that they keep patching instead of fixing. Don’t think that you’re getting a better deal by leaving Comcast and going to Pham. Maybe there’s a better fiber, Internet company out there, but this one is definitely not it But wait there’s more their customer service is nonexistent you can never get through to anyone they just leave you sitting on hold. Which they say it’s because they’re so busy but is a major indicator that they have nothing but problems. Don’t trust video fiber Internet it’s no better than anything else. I promise you.
