App Needs Overhaul and Rendered Pointless by Tend Business Practices
Lulu-P
The information in the app has been incorrect since my second visit when the dentist was able to do more work in one visit than originally planned. The front desk assured me that it was okay and seemed unbothered by the app having incorrect information. What’s the point of the app then? However, more frustrating is the inability to modify my appointments through the app. Each time I click on the option to make changes it tells me to call. Even for an appointment 12 days out. Also, my experience calling has not been great. One time I called to reschedule only to find out later that I was charged a no-show fee. After calling again and emailing a screenshot of my call history (don’t they have a call history?) I was able to get them to reimburse me. Most importantly, it was only after I became a patient did I discover that there is no way for me to call the office location or get in touch with the dentist directly. All calls are toured through a call center in Texas and emails through a general email inbox. For this reason alone I do not recommend Tend and will not be continuing as a patient after finishing my current treatment plan.
Great in person, horrible use of tech

This company has great people working in the locations themselves, but their business operates like a start-up and is poorly managed. They are impossible to reach via phone, you can only email a support center that has no direct knowledge of you or your care plan. I was supposed to receive a call/text from them when the dentist spoke with my orthodontist (both work at Tend) and over 2 weeks later I'm still waiting for that call. They also force you to confirm your appointment or threaten that they will give it away "to another member" while telling you they're also gonna charge you a no-show fee if you miss it. I'm not sure what planet giving away my appointment = charge me for not showing up. Not the most logical. It's a shame because their branding and, again, in person experience have been great. Unfortunately their lack of a patient-centric approach will be their undoing.
Beyond disappointed in customer service

Tend is great for someone who has no issues and uses them for preventative care. The moment there are issues you can not get a hold of anyone to discuss concerns. I am considered out of network BUT I have estimates for procedures that state $0 and then 2 months AFTER treatment my card on file gets charged over $750 without ANY discussion short of an email stating it was going to happen, not whether that was ok to proceed. I don’t like writing reviews, but I have not been able to speak or find ANY contact information to discuss my concerns. Have had many different negative experiences, and no one is held accountable and no one contacts you when they say they will. Very disappointing to say the least! Will not be going back, still having issues following their treatment— now having multiple specialists correcting complications following my treatment with tend!
Beware Tend is a scammer

Do not do business with thisplace. They are nefarious. Look into reviewselsewhere and believe the bad ones. Theypersonally scammed me into getting aprocedure I did not actually need in order to get the breeze braces. I'll make the story short:they said I need a cleaning before bracesinstallation and I told them I need to getinsurance before doing the cleaning. Once Icame and finished they said I should getscaling and root services. I asked them tocheck with my insurance that I would only do itif my insurance covers it. They said they willalways check with insurance before a patientcomes in. They told me I was covered and I hada co pay of about $200. This seemed high but Ithought it would be fine since the actual cost ishigher and my insurance is paying for the rest.Anyways, the procedure was fine although thedentist did not finished one of the upperquadrants and said in my next visit they'll takecare of it... they didn't. Afterwards I received abalance from TEND for the total amountbecause apparently I was on a waiting periodand was not elegible for that procedure. I called my insurance and they said they were surprised to find ZERO communications from TEND regarding my eligibility. Cigna could not find an email or phone call from them. Tend clearly dropped the ball here and would not provide a solution. They said I should have been the one to check if elegible which is a direct contradiction from when they said they will check with my insurance before any procedure! I spoked to one of their reps and she even agreed with me this is not right but there is nothing she could do abou!! WTH!?
Some performance improvements and some behind-the-teeth cleanup.
