The MyQ smart system is very helpful because I only have the two keychain remotes that came with Chamberlin’s kit. I had no physical switch outside the garage door to open it and I have no doorway access from inside the house. That meant some unneeded exercise if I forgot to hit the remote inside my house (the other one of course, is in the car). I would have to climb back up two flights to hit the button. So it’s handy as an additional remote by using the MyQ app on my phone. But I found out the hard way that the app sometimes freezes once it leaves your home wifi and before it picks up your cell network. In one case, I was riding in my wife’s car and when we drove away, the app indicated that the garage door was open. However, the app was frozen and I couldn’t close the garage from 3 blocks away (and even the physical remote wouldn’t have worked that far away). We had to circle back(and it turned out the door was open). I got out and hit the button inside the garage. When I got back in the car I looked at the app. It was working again since my phone was picking up my home WiFi. This is something that needs to be addressed in a future software update. The app will be useless if it only operates in the same proximity as a push button remote. I do appreciate that it indicated that the door was open so I could return to close it. But, I shouldn’t have had to do that, right?
App is great, support is awful.

First, I really like the app. It needs, no it’s crying out for CarPlay support. Michigan pasted a law forbidding drivers from interacting with their phone while operating a vehicle. So I can’t use the app until I am in my driveway. I am forced to continue to have my garage door opener within reach. It’s a small thing, but if MyQ was on CarPlay, I would be over the moon. I could easily start the door going from the stop sign near my house and simply drove right into my garage. Again, it’s a very small thing, but it’s the small things that surprise and delight. This app is great. I use it every morning and never have an issue. They did a change that required pushing the button twice and that was awful. The changed back to a single push in less than a week. To me missteps happen in development. Engineers in an office think of so many great ideas that don’t pan out in practice. The measure of a great engineer is the ability to assess and act quickly. The support site is pretty good, but the chat bot is frustratingly awful. I had to give up after trying to ask my question twice. I strongly urge the leadership to demand metrics on how many chat bot users bounce out of the system without going to an article or proceeding to a live agent. I suspect the bot team is claiming any interaction that doesn’t escalate to a live agent as a successful interaction. I suspect the truth is that a lot of people simply leave out of frustration. This would be a case of survivors bias. That chat bot should not be up and running in its current state. It’s really bad.
The updated app is garbage

I just did a review on this and it closed on me and does not look like I submitted anything. I never got to the submit button.I will try to make the shorter too many times I will sit in my driveway and tell my garage door to close And it does and I'll wait till I get the tone I will leave and come back open up the app select the open and it shows arrows going down still eventually it will go back to no arrows and then open With the arrows. This is very annoying other times I will come back and it works just fine. But way too often it does not sometimes I actually have to close the app. Then open it and that constant arrow goes away and will allow me to Open my garage door. I don't know if there's any updates. I'm missing. I do not see anywhere in the menu as an option to look for new updates. Also, the app has no link to provide feedback which I would've been more than glad to do instead of leaving this negative review. I've had Chamberlain garage openers for over 25 years only in the last two years that I have to replace both of them. My first set did not have an app. So I was looking forward to this. I don't know if there's a third-party app that can do the same thing that works better or not, but I'm gonna start looking. I also found a cumbersome to try to get my car programmed to the new chamberlain I had no issues with the older models. My recommendation. Is try to program your car if you can it's not smart to leave a Remote in the car. And if you have more patience than me then use the application. I'm just disappointed.
Pretty Good; Slight Improvements Could Make It Better

More like 4-1/2 stars. The app is very good, and has a surprisingly good and clean user interface, and UI/UX design is a difficult area of computer science that combines science with art that most companies have a very difficult time getting right, so kudos to the developers. It just works too, and I’ve had no issues with the app. However, I did have issues getting my outside keypad to stay connected to wi-fi. That’s not the fault of the app, of course, but a slight improvement to the app could make fixing wi-fi issues easier:Add to the app the information on the IP address and/or MAC address of each Liftmaster/Chamberlain device that’s been added. At the moment, for some devices my mesh router is not showing the names of the devices, but only what the name of the manufacturer of the device’s internal wi-fi card, and that is true for some of the MyQ devices. My outside keypad needs to be locked to the mesh access point that I’ve added in the garage, and it would be useful to do the same for the Liftmaster opener as well, but I haven’t been able to figure out what device on my mesh network is the opener. Being able to see the IP address or MAC address would fix that problem, and should be a *really* easy update to the app.
