I may be the weak link in the use of the app. I accepted its trial and find it interesting. I’ve tried multiple uses from scanning a room to converting a picture into a 3-D image to scanning a specific item with the intent of learning it’s capabilities. I’m searching for it’s functional place in my world and not sure it will have one. However that’s not to suggest. I don’t think it will. It’s been very interesting to use some practical applications would be helpful to try and understand.

I don’t know where to even start with this one. Allot of apps say “free” until you download and see that downloading it was the only thing “free” about it.. This app goes against the grain.. Most of the features are actually free.. And they’re frickin’ awesome. The measurements are so precise. It not only takes measurements, but literally adds the furniture you own to a 3D floor plan of your entire building you’ve scanned so it can be taken account of during whatever project you’ve got going on. It also allows you to convert your floor plans to a PDF format if you’re the old school 2D planning type of guy/gal.. This review doesn’t have space for all the things this could be used for.. But it’s a must have for anybody in carpentry, construction, or somebody just planning a project..

So I tried 3D Snap like the other week cause I was redoing my living room and ugh I didn’t wanna keep running around with a tape measure. I mean I needed to see if the new couch I wanted would fit, like without totally blocking the window or whatever. So I scanned the room and then I had this layout, looked way better than my messy paper doodles. it was kinda helpful I guess. At first it felt super weird waving my phone around, not gonna lie, but it kinda worked? Measurements were close enough I think, so I went with it.I also tried the AR ruler to double check the wall length cause I’m paranoid like that, and it matched! or like close enough.Didn’t even touch all the other features cause I just needed that one thing, but uh yeah, it kinda did the job better than I thought.

Never tried this kind of app before, but I downloaded 3D Snap cause I wanted to scan some old stuff in my attic before selling it. The 3D scan thing is kinda wild, I just waved my phone around a dusty chair and it actually made a model that looked like it, not perfect but close enough to show my friends. The AI modeling stuff is cool too, like I can take a photo of a lamp and it kinda builds it in 3D, but sometimes it makes weird shapes if the lighting is bad or I move too fast. Honestly it’s fun to play with, I wasn’t expecting much but it’s kinda addictive. Would be nicer if it was a bit faster, but still, for what I needed it worked and I’m impressed! Gonna try scanning more random stuff for fun and see what else it can do!
