I LOVE these workouts. They’re effective without being overly difficult or having to take too much recovery time. The app itself could use some refining-workouts don’t save weight values, so for workouts to have true “progressive overload” you have to keep track on your own. Additionally, if you edit the program; say midweek I decide I’m not working out 5 days and just want 4, it doesn’t save any workouts you did from the previous program, knocking any streaks or previous workouts for the week to zero. Its a good start with amazing workouts, but the app leaves a few things that are important to (this) lifter out.

Here is what would make the app better:1. If you change # of workout days mid week, it drops your previous workouts that you already finished that week, wish that wasn’t the case.2. Can’t change a completed workout date, ie I completed one yesterday and forgot to hit finish, so it logged for today when I “finished” the workout. 3. Notes should show up WITH workout history, they are separate, so if I forget to check them, I may miss a note I left myself. 4. Wish that the last weight used (from previous workout) would show up under working sets on today’s workout, so I don’t have to click the history button, but can reference in real time what I lifted last. 5. it would be nice to change the order of workouts, eg, some days I may super set pull ups with squats because of the rest time, but I have to do that manually. 6. If workouts are SIMILAR (eg banded Bb thrusts vs reg Bb thrusts) and you have no history, I wish it would recommend the weight based on similar workouts/hisyory

I love this program and the flexibility in number of days/equipment needs. The one thing that is a constant issue is my music pauses every time i go to log my sets. I have the pause video setting toggled on, and the video doesn’t play, but my music still stops. It’s so annoying and adds that extra time to my workout to figure it out after every single set!

I have been a Booty by Bret member for a little over a year and love the program so I was so excited when they announced an app! The user interface is clean and easy to navigate. I love how the videos are included for each exercise and how every day is clearly laid out. That being said, I don’t think I’m fully ready to switch over the app yet. I’m a paid user for the Strong app and there are some features that I heavily rely on at the gym that is currently missing from the Booty by Bret app. For instance, it doesn’t automatically include the weight amount you lifted the last time you performed that exercise. There is a history tab where all this is stored, but I have to manually enter in all the number again for each set. With the Strong app, I’m able to see the previous amount I lifted and adjust accordingly so I can continue to progressive overload through the month. It also doesn’t have a feature to help with math weights (telling you which plates + the bar equals the weight you’re trying to lift). These are crucial features that I need and I found myself going back to the Strong app for them even though I would desperately like to delete it in favor of Bret’s app!However, as a fellow dev, I know you can’t launch with all the features, so I fully believe that eventually this app will be superior to Strong. It already is in so many ways. I will continue checking the release notes for all the updates to come because I’m very excited about this app’s future. But overall, amazing launch and design!
