I’m a subscriber for 40+ years to the Gazette & Republic and thoroughly enjoy the op eds of Montini, Goodykoontz, Roberts and way back to Royoko. And yes I do the daily puzzles and even give myself an old fashioned grade, quite a few A+++ on the crosswords (in lead pencil, tho). HOWEVER, over the years I don’t recall our POTUS being plastered all over the paper so frequently as Trump. I have developed a habit to cover his picture with my hand while reading content. Ergo, four stars in stead of five. He’s not MY president. And thanks for the educational pieces about Arizona, I keep on learning and sharing articles with the grandkids … both electronically and of that good old hard copy I get on Wednesday & Sunday. I’m one that still enjoys the tactile feel, same way I read books. Thanks for the years, and thanks for asking. /Jennifer Crandell, Gilbert
Great state and local content but app difficult to use
Fetish123
I love AZCentral as my go to source for local and state news. Having been a long time Arizona Republic subscriber I hope AZCentral can provide the financial support needed for the publishers to continue providing Arizona based news stories and articles. My only complaint is with the app is that too many links appear throughout articles so when when reading and scrolling through the article I inadvertently touch the links which immediately take me to another related story. Very annoying and not a problem with other app news feeds such as AP, NPR and Reuters. I would suggest fewer links in the stories and instead place them at the end of the article if the reader wants to delve further into background. Otherwise, keep up the good work AZCentral and let’s support local journalism.
Feeling the connection
moth without wings
I moved to Arizona in 1988 from Alaska. Since then, I have moved to different neighborhoods 5 times in Scottsdale. Some neighborhoods were more friendly than others and it’s that connection with others that made the difference. This is what being a subscriber does for me. No matter what neighborhood I live in can always read the newspaper and get connected to any neighborhood I want. Journalism is important I am also doing my part to support the local paper. Just like voting it makes me feel like I am making a contribution back to my local and larger neighborhood.
Frequently Stalls
Bill Paying Bills
Having online access to The Arizona Republic is important to me. However, on my iPad six the app frequently stalls. I am open to any suggestions as to how I can increase its performance. The app is stalling when reading top stories online. Specifically, there are regular halt when scrolling down a long article. When browsing the e-newspaper online frequently, the comics page is not included in the index and navigating through the e-newspaper frequently stalls. If and when improvements are made, please let us know online so that we can refresh the app in our iPad. We know there have been some improvements recently and we thank you for those. But it is far from perfect. We don’t see navigation difficulties like this in the online New York Times app, so we believe improvements are quite possible.
