Smart forms and surveys for digital data collection.
ArcGIS Survey123 helps mobile workers collect field data with speed and precision. Capture location-aware survey responses anytime, anywhere—even offline—and sync seamlessly with your ArcGIS platform for real-time analysis and decision-making. From gathering public feedback to conducting inspections or documenting field conditions, Survey123 helps ensure data capture is efficient and reliable.
ArcGIS is available on your desktop, in a browser, and on smartphones or tablets. Survey123 is Esri's form-centric app on mobile devices.
Note: Survey123 is designed for organizational use. This app requires you have an ArcGIS organizational account to collect and update data. Public surveys shared by organizations can be accessed without sign in for crowd sourcing or citizen science purposes.
Collect and submit data with precision:
- Capture data using a wide variety of question types including text, map, choice lists, dates, photos, signatures, and barcodes.
- Collect data online or offline and sync when connected.
- Capture location information using device GPS.
- Use maps in surveys to select points.
- Apply skip logic, calculations, and data validation to ensure high-quality responses.
- Attach photos and audio to survey responses.
- Create multilingual surveys.
Work securely with your organization:
- Securely connect to your ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise organization.
- Submit surveys to trigger feature service webhooks that automate downstream workflows.
Collaborate and analyze results:
- Access and complete publicly shared surveys in the field without needing to sign in, allowing you to provide feedback or contribute data for crowd sourcing projects.
- Integrate data submitted from the Survey123 field app with ArcGIS Dashboards, ArcGIS Experience Builder, and other ArcGIS solutions to enhance visualization and analysis.
- Submit reliable survey data to support professional reports, which can be generated using customizable report templates on the Survey123 website.
- Submit survey data in the field to make it available for export in formats such as CSV, Excel, shapefile, or file geodatabase through the Survey123 website, ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise.
The app works well overall. BUT, needs an update and improvement for the ending of the survey. What i mean is when users are using the keyboard to enter in a field, when they scroll down the checkmark is not available. They have to try and “push” keyboard down and away to allow check mark to appear. Very clunky, checkmark should always be a banner on the bottom. Also, the checkmark should be changed to a submit button, mostly for the older generations that cant see the check mark easily.
Not good, and not getting any better

I have a GIS degree. I’ve had the displeasure of using this app for the past 7 years for work both collecting field data and configuring forms for others. It’s a simple app that somehow remains very difficult to use due to numerous bugs, battery drain, lag, crashing, authentication loops, etc. These issues get exacerbated in areas of poor cell service, causing errors that only resolve by force quitting the app and re-opening in airplane mode. There have been basically no improvements to this platform or support which make the predatory pricing practices of ESRI even more egregious. A billion dollar company that can’t make a simple app functional.
Works well if customized correctly
MartySD24
This app is awesome when designed well by the team who is customizing it. Many of the bugs reported by others are due to how it was customized, not due to Esri. Also they are constantly improving it! You can’t beat the ease of translations and ability to add offline maps to be viewed in the field, even while disconnected from the internet.
Bug Fixes Please
Kan ye West
- if i refresh my survey page, go into a survey, and exit back into the list, any movement on my touchscreen prompts the list to refresh over and over again. i have to force-close the app and reboot everything again for it to mostly return to the same bug. please fix this for more stars. - please hire UI designers who understand touch screen apps better. this app is clunky and frustrating to deal with due to unclear navigation around the app and large lag times following simple procedures (ie: exiting a survey)
Developer Response
Hi Kan ye West. Thanks a lot for reporting this issue. We have not been able to reproduce this particular behavior you describe. We suggest you update the app on your device with the latest version from the Apple store and let us know if the problem persists. If that is the case we would love to hear from you directly. Please email us at survey123@esri.com or log a comment with screenshots in our GeoNet place at https://community.esri.com/groups/survey123
- A bug was fixed in which the Inframarker scanner failed to load when the feature layer of a survey that expected its use did not contain the inframarkerid field.
- A bug was fixed in which attempting to download a survey from ArcGIS Enterprise caused the survey to fail to download.
