The free 10,000 Steps app allows members of 10000steps.org.au to easily record steps and minutes of activity, track step statistics over time, join monthly walking Challenges and view progress in team Tournaments.

Using the 10,000 Steps app, you can:

Become a member of the internationally renowned 10,000 Steps program!
- sign up for free to become a 10,000 Steps member
- set your daily steps goal

Record your steps and physical activity
- automatically sync steps from Apple Health (*NEW feature)
- enter daily steps counted using other devices (e.g., pedometer, pedometer app, or activity tracker)
- add time in minutes for moderate and vigorous activities where steps are not accurately counted (e.g., swimming, cycling, aerobics, sports)
- sync steps and activity with your online 10,000 Steps account (Fitbit, Garmin and Google Fit connection can be setup on the website)

Track your steps over time and join fun challenges
- track your progress with step stats and graphs
- join monthly virtual walking Challenges around the world
- view team Tournament progress and Leaderboard

About the 10,000 Steps Program

10,000 Steps is a free program run by the team at CQUniversity Australia, that encourages individuals to increase their physical activity by incorporate more movement into everyday life. Regular physical activity is a proven way to prevent chronic diseases and cancers as well as improve mood, concentration, and emotional health. Using activity trackers, the aim of the 10,000 Steps program is to encourage awareness of how much we move throughout the day and find sustainable ways to move more. The program has been successful in motivating individuals, workplaces, and local communities to increase their physical activity levels since 2001. We provide information, support, and an online platform to help you achieve your activity goals. Every step and minute of activity counts.

Why doesn’t this sync with the iPhone Health app?? It makes no sense to enter steps manually, and scoring physical activity as steps is ridiculous. The site is all about steps, count steps - or if you want to record physical activity, then use the heart rate monitor to sync that activity as well. There should be no manual input, as whenever there is, figures get fudged...

Hi djlen_ny, we have just released a new version (4.8.4) which syncs with Apple Health. As we are not for profit, we have not previously had the resources to make this much wanted upgrade in the past. It is up to each individual to record their steps as accurately as possible and we need to allow for participants who do not have trackers or would like to amend their steps to input manually. We encourage our members to move in ways that they enjoy, which doesn't always equal steps. 10,000 Steps Team.

Much better

Significantly improved since last years challenge. Apple health sync is great. Though I think it’s over-counting my steps, despite syncing from apple health. There’s no real settings to play with, so I don’t see how or why it could be, but it’s often close to double my step count! I worry that many of the challenge participants are going to have massively inflated step counts!

The website is great, however this app is sooo outdated. Looks like it’s still meant for an iPhone 4 screen.. also there needs to be more options for it to connect to other devices.
