This latest app update may very well go down in history as “the event that shaped 2019”. Our development team called it the “update to end all updates” - which come to think of it, sounds like they’re planning to slack off from here. Might have a chat to them about that.... anyway, here’s the deets:
For all our hyper-competitive users - stop losing friends over board games and focus your competitive energy on our new “Challenge” section! Challenges allow you to earn discounts and free Boosts by completing regularly set tasks! With 5 new challenges to unlock we dare you to try it. If you don’t, you’re totally chicken.
Fix your eyes on our New Juicy Stuff section - where we show off our newest and most discounted-est drinks. There’s no junk in this trunk...or is there? Ok, there is. Lots of junk. The positive kind.
Let’s just say if we were Olympic hopefuls, we’d be swiftly disqualified and become a national disgrace. We’ve loaded up on performance enhancements in the latest update, alongside some bug fixes.
Ratings and Reviews
The new version of boost takes a few steps forward in terms of bug fixing (finally fixing the logout issue is great!) and a number of steps backwards in terms of UX. As a developer I get it, UX is hard. But the new interface is confusing and loses out on features that I actually liked. For example, we lose categorisation of drinks and new/popular tags which was actually kind of nice. The new pictures just show the top of the smoothie which really doesn’t help when I want to know the ingredients at a glance. The old app made the selection much more obvious at a glance although the search is nice. Next, the gestures are confusing - the flow throughout the app is inconsistent and confusing in terms of gestures like moving from swipe to tap to swipe between different screens. The layout is confusing and the green branding was replaced by a generic white background and hard to read font. The store finder is barely usable if you actually wanted to find a store that wasn’t the closest. Why is there even a separation between drinks and smoothies? Why is there a bitcoin price tracker of all things built in as a contest? Why is the copy sickeningly sweet and ‘funny’? It’s a good attempt to try and revamp the app but it got worse in a lot of ways in my opinion. Sure, maybe I am being a bit bit picky like meg from Melbourne (I wonder if she’s happy with being called out like that!) but why settle for such an obvious downgrade in UX?
Worst experience today
So today my girlfriend and I went to boost juice in fountain gate, I ordered a pure Eden original size with lemon juice added, after waiting 10 minutes or so after everyone behind me had received their orders and also my girlfriend who ordered after me I asked them where my smoothie was and they had lost the order somewhere so after remaking it they then proceeded to fill the cup and then pour it back into the blender, the girl then added water to it so obviously they haven’t put enough ingredients into it, she then blended it up for the second time and handed me the cup which was still an inch empty, I gave it a taste and nearly threw up it was that disgusting. Watered down and all separated, without the added lemon juice I had paid extra for. I usually always get this when I go to boost and it costs me $9.70 every time. They gave me a free boost on us card for the next time due to how bad the service was, I have just arrived home to find it expired last month. I am extremely unhappy with how bad this experience has been and I doubt I’ll ever be buying from you again.
Love Boost but a few things don’t work efficiently enough
Sometimes app orders don’t go through, sometimes you get charged when the app order has not gone through, it should automatically redeem (you the customer shouldn’t have to do it yourself) when you use a reward voucher, the app for the free the fruit is a little annoying that you physically have to visit the store every time you want to get a voucher. I live around 10 or so mins or 15 from Fountain Gate and it’s a little annoying because sometimes I don’t want to shop or go out to Fountain gate but I want to redeem my fruit for vouchers to use when I do want to go out to boost but I can’t because it doesn’t let me. The old app allowed you to redeem without going into store.
Other than that I love Boost App
Only other thing is I wish they did cute collector cups in the original size for adults. Would be awesome. :)
Developer Response ,
That doesn’t sound right! Next time there’s an issue such as getting incorrectly charged or orders not going through, go into the app profile section and tap on contact customer support and we will get this sorted asap. That’s awesome that you’re playing Find the Fruit, in order to defeat Mango Man you need to get up and move :slightly_smiling_face: We will definitely pass along your feedback to the team about adult collectible cups! Cheers for the love and support!
