Description

Behaving in ways that are good for our health and for the planet should be a no-brainer. BetterPoints aims to make such behaviour fun, attractive – and normal.

The BetterPoints app is the home of programmes designed to motivate people to behave more healthily and sustainably, such as walking, cycling, and eating better.

Maybe your employer has encouraged you to join a BetterPoints programme, or you’ve seen one advertised locally. To join in, simply download the app and follow the instructions.

Each programme is different, depending on who is sponsoring it and what their objectives are.

Some programme sponsors offer rewards (which they pay for) for doing the activities they want to encourage. These rewards may be in the form of points (BetterPoints) that you can trade in for vouchers or donate to charity, or prize-draw entries (BetterTickets) that give you the chance to win something.

You might also face fun challenges, unlock medals, or try to race your colleagues up a leaderboard.

Whatever the programme and the nature of its rewards, you’ll be embarking on an exciting journey of change, for a positive impact on your health and on the environment.

So, join us in our challenge to adopt behaviours that put health and climate first – for a healthier, happier world!

Astrugi ,

Ms

It sounds very good, you are active and rewarded with points and vouchers. However not every time, it seems to cap your points after a couple of activities per week and doesn’t give you any points at all, no matter how long the activity. Kind of demotivating to use it every time. Also the estimation of miles done is completely inaccurate lately, not sure why. But occasionally you may get a small voucher. Oh and there is a catch there too - you cannot use it unless you register, so the retailer has your details! And that’s really not ok.

Developer Response ,

Hello,
No retailer has your details, we have a strict privacy policy and do not share your data with 3rd parties. It is just how the vouchers are set up. You simply sign up for an account with us.
If you are in a funded programme there is usually a maximum number of BetterPoints you can earn for the week. But further activities count towards how active you are each week and towards medals (see the Progress tab of the app.)
If there is any discrepancy in the miles you think you've done and what has been tracked, have you written into us to flag this us? We can make recommendations as needed.

Uzma

Might as well call it Bettertickets now

I’ve enjoyed using this app for years and especially early on was very pleased with the amount of points it bestowed and what I could buy with them, however a consistent theme has been a decrease in the points awarded to the point now where you seem to earn no points at all for activity, only tickets for entry into a prize draw where you MIGHT win them.
As someone who’s just short of 5,000 points this is quite irritating as I’m so close to being able to redeem them. Now I’m reduced to hoping I win a draw at some point, but even if I do, I’ll always just be just short of £10 worth of points and so on. The points I had are almost worthless in essence.
I’ve nevertheless been earning tickets for several months now but haven’t won a draw. I do wonder what my odds are now of getting any more points again.
My understanding is that other schemes that reward activity are available and having been happy with BetterPoints for some time, I fear my only option is to investigate these alternatives.

Developer Response ,

Hello,
Since you live in an area that no longer has a funded challenge - that is why you are only earning BetterTickets. This enables others who cannot take part in the funded schemes to still be able to use the app to track activity, earn virtual medals and generally see how active they are being.
If you write into me via the app's Help section - I can check how many points you do have and see if there are any options less than £5 you could look into.

Great App to log exercise and help the environment

This is a great app to record your walking, cycling and running. You earn points every time you record your exercise and earn tickets to be entered into weekly and monthly draws. Once you earn enough points - which stack up very quickly- you can redeem vouchers from as little as £2 for most high street retailers, or you can donate your points to a local or regional charity. Using the app encourages you to use the pop up lanes that have been created due to COVID and has encouraged us a family to discover routes we didn’t know existed. BetterPoints also adds different challenges for you to join which records environmental info in your area and questionnaires that can also earn you points. If you walk and cycle anywhere you should be using this app.

Developer Response ,

Hello Jo,
Happy to learn that the app is making a difference to you and your family.

Uzma
