I have just bought an electric car and had my first successful charge, the app could be laid out a bit better but it works, I charged my car. At 19p per kWh it is not much more expensive than charging at home so no reason to complain really.
Payment registration failure, can’t start charge.
First time I used the app I needed to get my car charged quickly for a work trip. Plugged in car, found charge point in the app, selected option to start charging. App displayed a payment registration page, I duly entered new card details and it responded with card successfully registered. Entered CVV number and selected register card, app responded with Sorry, but your payment registration failed: No suitable account was found for this transaction.
I then couldn’t check the card details, there’s no option to edit or delete registered cars.
I re-entered my card details checking everything was correct as I went along. Same outcome. Checked the app account details, all appeared ok. Repeated a couple more times to no avail.
Deleted the app and reinstalled. App strangely retained my account details (presumably held off device). Repeated card registration process, same failure.
Logged on to ChargePlace Scotland web site and registered a direct debut to handle payments. Went back to app and tried to start a charge, couldn’t get past card registration screen, still got the same failure message.
I’m in Scotland where charging is free so this whole experience is laughable.
I went back to the ChargePlace Scotland web site and requested a new charge point card (£20), phoned their support and had them remotely start charge.
First time I ever tried to use this service provider. Customer services really good but overall service less than one star. Drove from London to Lewes and needed to charge. Only 1 DC charger in Lewes owned by these clowns. I did not have one of their RFID cards but wasn’t worried as I had checked with them before hand and was told I could download the App or pay by phone. I arrive in Lewes and attempt to pay by phone. It rang out twice with no one answering. Ok not a problem download the App. Downloaded the app. Filled out all the details submitted only to receive an error message!!! Phoned customer services. Response “ oh sorry about that our app is down we are trying to fix it. We can’t take payments over the phone and there is some data protection issue”. Customer services connected me free of charge but this pantomime took 25 minutes. Why can’t they all just take contactless payment cards everyone else does?
