Version 2.20

We have now enabled the functionality to scan your 16digit card number as well as showing you a map location of your courier’s attempted delivery of your parcels. We fixed a few bugs in relation to your notifications too. Finally, when you click on a link to give feedback about your delivery experience, the link will take you to your Hermes app now rather than a web application.

This is for the App not Hermes

There are a couple of things that annoy me about this app. 1 - you always have to add a parcel that you want to track. It never knows that I’m expecting a delivery. 2 - although notifications are on I don’t get any. I get emails to give me updates and only by going into the app can I see what’s happening. 3 - this means that on occasions when I haven’t checked my emails, I’m surprised to find the delivery man at the door. So what’s the point if the app? The biggest competitor in logistics has their app down to a fine art. They automatically know I’m expecting a parcel, even when I don’t know who is going to deliver. A notification is sent to tell me that they are delivering. It sends notifications advising of the day they plan to deliver, the time, how far away and who is delivering etc. They also do this by email but the point is their app takes over and does all that, I don’t need to check emails as I can see progress, even on my locked screen. Can’t understand why this app can’t do this too! I don’t have any complaints about the deliveries or my courier, just the app and how it operates.

Customer Support woefully inadequate

I had been waiting for a parcel containing clothing got an upcoming holiday. Unfortunately this took the supplier much longer than expected (two weeks) and the delivery date was the day that we were leaving on holiday. I tried to change the delivery address to that of a neighbour but my address and that of my immediate neighbours was not in the Hermes database. So, the delivery address linked to my order were correct but not available in the Hermes address database. The app suggested addresses most of which are not only incorrect but moreover do not exist. I have encountered this problem with other suppliers’ address databases (which I assume use the same source for their data) and it is a real problem. Fortunately most suppliers have the correct address details in their database. This in itself should not be an insurmountable problem but because there is no way of speaking to anyone at Hermes or being able to contact via email, it is not possible to resolve this type of issue. Moreover, the automated response customer support bot is risible. It is very basic, very difficult to listen to and was no help whatsoever with finding any type of resolution to this type of problem. This is not the first time I have had problems with Hermes and where possible I use another supplier.

Extremely poor customer service

I ordered a parcel and the sender sent it on Friday the 30th of April. The parcel was estimated ‘Saturday the 1st’ and didn’t come until today (Wednesday the 5th) the sender sent it 2-3 days delivery which was reasonable. What really annoyed me was that the app updated me saying the parcel would be delivered to my work address between 2:00-4:00pm which was fine. I waited until 7:30pm and no one showed to deliver my parcel. This went on for 3 nights in a row I waited until 7:00-8:00 at night when my work closed at 4;00!!! I then phoned customer service and they guaranteed that the parcel would be with me that day. The parcel didn’t show up as per. I then phoned them the next day and they’re excuse was “the driver had too many parcels” which is absolutely ridiculous considering they signed up for the job. It was a pathetic excuse. I phoned the next day and explained and they again guaranteed it would be at my address for 6:00pm at the latest. Again the parcel never showed and I wasted 4 hours of my time again waiting. I think it’s absolutely shocking that I had to go through all this hassle for a parcel? I wouldn’t recommend posting through Hermes to anyone if this is the day to day service that is giving to the public. I hope no one else goes experiences this. Poor.
