Clear, simple, easy to use.

Get it if you like art
The App contains all the basic information that you should need to review and manage your pension. There is some functionality that isn’t there yet, but is hopefully coming (eg ability to switch funds) but this can be accessed in other ways.One star removed as for some reason the App now needs to have the password entered every time it’s used. Not fatal but surely fingerprint/face recognition should be possible as it used to be before I assume it was lost in an update!

Thanks for the feedback. Biometrics (Face / Touch ID) will launch in early 2023. Along with extra functionality and pension information. Hopefully that'll win back that star?

Lack of Transparency – No Investment Units Shown

The Scottish Widows app lacks basic transparency by not displaying the number of investment units in my pension. Unlike apps such as Vanguard, which clearly show unit holdings, this app only displays a total value with no breakdown of how that figure is calculated.Without seeing my unit holdings, I have no way of tracking how my pension is actually growing—whether I’m gaining more units or just seeing changes in value due to market fluctuations. This is fundamental information for anyone managing their pension, and its absence makes the app feel frustratingly opaque.Scottish Widows needs to fix this and provide a clear, itemized view of investments. A pension isn’t just a number—it’s made up of actual units, and customers should be able to see exactly what they own. Until this is addressed, the app remains far behind competitors in transparency and usability.

This was not a bad app until some work was done over the weekend. Tried to access it today only to be met with a a message that ‘this app is no longer supported’ and needs an update via the App Store. A link is provided but no update is available - only an ‘Open’ option, which sends me back to the unsupported message. I tried to contact you via your chat but this is a bot and doesn’t understand. Please review and resolve the app problem, thanks. I have downgraded the rating as currently it just isn’t working. Otherwise would be 3 stars as info available but no calculator or significant functionality, for which one has to go via the website.

Hargreaves Lansdown app is much better

Very few features. The calculator for estimating how much you need in retirement is poor. Basically it mimics a sequence of text message exchanges simply to tell you that you need half your current income in retirement. I could make a lot of suggestions on how the app can be improved, but much easier if I simply say “take a look at how Hargreaves Lansdown do it”. Also I have no idea what the underlying investments are in the pension fund. Hargreaves Lansdown create a great report showing in what sectors and countries your money is invested.Frankly I think I have put more effort into writing this review than Scottish Widows have put into writing their app.
