Feature Suggestion: View-Once Photos
I’ve been using Messenger for quite some time and appreciate its seamless communication features. However, I believe there’s room for an essential improvement that would significantly enhance user experience: the introduction of a ‘view-once’ photo option, similar to what’s available on WhatsApp.
This feature would allow users to send photos that can be viewed only once by the recipient, providing an extra layer of privacy and control over shared media. It’s particularly useful for sharing sensitive or temporary information without worrying about it being saved or misused.
Implementing this feature could make Messenger even more appealing to privacy-conscious users, ensuring that it stays competitive with other messaging apps that already offer this functionality. I hope to see this in future updates!
Great app but I have noticed a glitch no one is talking about.
I’ve used the messenger app for what seems like forever, I’ve had no issues with it other than the sound on calls being quiet which I know is not the fault of my phone, other than that everything is great.
The one glitch I’ve noticed and have asked other iPhone users about and they have confirmed it’s happening to them as well, is that sometimes notifications that come through (not the red circle by the app) and do not go away, for example I received a message about a week ago and it kept the notification in my notification wall even though I had pressed it and viewed the message, I deleted the notification by swiping it across and selecting delete but it came back within 24hours. It’s not really a big problem but it often does this with a few messages and they keep coming back, it’s a little frustrating and I often find myself thinking that I’ve missed messages from friends.
More and more issues when you are using an account not linked with Facebook...
I’ve had a Messenger account for quite a while now, but never had Facebook. I know that the service is meant to be primarily used in conjunction with Facebook but when I first got a Messenger account the only big downside I noticed was that it was a lot harder for people to find you and add you to group chats, etc. However, functionality for accounts without Facebook has got worse and worse. I now can’t view my phone number or edit my name or photo. These features used to exist for accounts that didn’t have Facebook, as a code/username service that was introduced you could use for people to find you easily that only seemed to persist temporarily. At least add an option link other accounts - as I know you now able to sign in with Instagram (a service I have a long-standing account with) if these features are being tweaked so I can have a more up-to-date account...
