Great app but.....

Find the app really easy to use. Convenient that my credit score is calculated for free and automatically updated every 2 months. Also they will
Notify me through emails well before my payment date. Credit limit can be increased and decreased, personal details can be edited, PIN number can be viewed through the app also, which is handy if like me purchase aren't what I usually use the card for. As other have stated, when I make a payment, it doesn't update for a few days, so will still show as payment due. I pay mine through direct debit so I just check through my own bank, and I know the payment has went through when it has left my account! Apart from that, I have no faults with the app at all, and actually find it really good, can organise everything through just that app, no need to phone anyone and waste time! Also I will sometimes receive notifications of offers like money transfers and balance transfers which can be set up through the app within minutes. Honestly no complaints here! 😀

Ridiculous waste of time

The app itself when you actually can get in works fine. The first problem that arises is that the first time I tried to set it up took almost 45 mins. You have to enter a ton of security information (which is not a bad thing considering it’s a banking app) but while setting up it keeps telling you it’s saving your progress. LIES, It kept crashing then you have to start from beginning again every time, to the point where it wouldn’t let me continue anymore and I had to waste even more time calling them to set it up over phone. The ridiculous part from my review title comes from when you finally have it set up and you get a new phone, if you download the app to a new phone you have to go through the entire set up again with a whole new set of security measures. I’ve never used an app (including other banking apps) that make you do an entirely new set up just because you change device, your log in details shouldn’t have to change just because the app is on a new phone. I asked using their messaging service on the website why I had to do this and got 3 generic responses that were clearly cut and pasted from a script saying I had to call them (had no intention of wasting my time calling them) then they passed my question on as a complaint and after about 8 months they finally replied with another generic response that any new device has to be set up with new log in details. Most pointless app I’ve ever seen and a complete waste of time

If it doesn’t work of pain

To be fair I will state upfront I sometimes have memory problems which get worse with stress so ....
I forgot the log in details (fingerprint scan also) for the app and blocked the acct so NO CHOICE had to contact Barclays to reset. I’m now 7 calls in, 2 formal complaints opened & closed same day with 1 reopened still pending almost a month later. Plus and my personal fave 2 yes 2 new account no & cards all because the call centre cancelled my original card when I said it wasn’t to hand when all I wanted to do was pay off through the app card. At this point in time I still cannot access the app as you have to have card details but as the replacement card failed to arrive and the replacement of the replacement is still on its way ....

I can’t access half the things claimed be the leading review from a year ago - Experian no longer accepts registration just being one example so no it’s not that great. The call centre is abroad unless you get to the second tier of customer complaints and to be honest it’s not actually that helpful assumptions are made that you’re either IT illiterate or worse.

Still if you can remember all that’s needed it has a handy reminder of your pin but nothing to refresh your will to live after speaking to the call centre. I vote that as a new functionality for the next update.
