MyNextbase Connect 4+

First review

The app is very good I must say pretty decent on UI, downloading system and the ability to enter a lot of information in the video, kind of buggy when trying to fast forward and change videos, Unfortunately I do not like app when it crashes. Every time I try to launch the app, it is just a black or blue screen empty screen. Nothing being loaded just that. I can go onto my phone as normal its just the app does not want to launch. Yes I have tried many different alternatives to reset the app. The only option that wins is re-install it. Which is annoying.

Connectivity problems

I have purchased a car which has a Nextbase 380 GWX wired into the car. I followed the instructions on this app to connect to the dash cam but a message told me that I needed to use Cam Viewer. I have tried several time to connect to the dash cam using Cam Viewer and the dash cam’s WiFi but nearly every time the spinning wheel on my iPhone SE 2020 keeps going around and around and eventually times out. On a couple of occasions I was asked for the password so when I entered the default password a message came up saying “you cannot use this at this time” or words to that effect. What do I do now? How can I input my car registration number to the Dash Cam? I can download videos to my iMac but I would like to download them to my phone sometimes. Please help.

Since posting the above review, I was contacted by Nextbase support who talked me through the set up procedures for Camviewer. All is now well and the app works fine.

The 380GWX is not compatible with the MyNextbase Connect app. Please give our Support Team a call on 02920 866 429 (UK) and we can assists you further in getting set up with CamViewer.

Hit and miss, at best

I have a 522 GW with rear camera hardwired into my VW ID 5 using the nextbase hardwire kit and it’s all working fine. However trying to connect the app and download files from it is the most frustrating experience out there! The app either doesn’t open (I’m running it on an iPhone 15 Pro Max with the latest software always installed), or the app won’t connect to the camera despite the camera saying it’s paired.
Unfortunately only 2 stars therefore because on paper it looks like a promising app but functionally it’s rubbish. I don’t want to take the sd card out and fire up my laptop every time I want to save a file or three and had hoped the app would negate that need but unless I’m missing something here, it’s a waste of storage space on my phone. Over to you Nextbase….. make an app as excellent as your cameras and I’ll reconsider my review. (Btw, we run 4 NB cameras across the family’s vehicles so we really do love the quality and stylishness of your products!)
