-- I’ve never used the app before. How do I start?
Tap the ‘Get’ button on the screen to download the app. Once downloaded, simply follow the instructions on screen. From there, all you’ll need are your Nationwide account details or debit card and card reader and the app will help you finish setting up.

Way behind the times
I have recently switched from Halifax to Nationwide and prior to this, I reviewed what features were available on the Nationwide app. I feel that it is false advertising by saying ‘Whether you want to send a one off payment or setup a standing order, transferring money is quick and easy to both new and existing payees’. This CANNOT be done solely using the app and Is far from quick and easy. You have to be in possession of an out of date card reader to set up DD/ standing order, send payments to new payees, send payments to your payees already set up for the first time, to set up PayM etc. Whether you have a Payee set up or are adding a new one, you are NOT able to change the payment reference so the same one is used for all future payments. I have seen this has been brought up over a year ago and this apparently is something they are working on - how long do they need? This is before even talking about the fact you can’t cash in cheques on the app and it does not display what your pending transactions are, only the amount! I feel I have gone back in time with the level of features on this app and had I known this beforehand, I would not have switched banks. Very disappointed.
I have to write to say I would give Nationwide 10 stars if I was able. Having recently lost the main mortgage holder we have been treated with compassion, respect and dignity by all the staff at Nationwide Building Society (Stourbridge), the main bereavement team and the mortgage department . We were not hassled at all for any payments for the mortgage while the estate has been sorted (7 months) and were contacted regularly to find out how we were doing and for general updates. I cannot praise everyone enough and would recommend them to everyone who needs a business to keep their accounts and money safe. One phone call gets you through to a friendly voice in branch , call in branch and be dealt with efficiently or you can manage your money online just as easily. I am amazed at the bad reviews I have read so just had to speak out about my experience so THANK YOU NATIONWIDE and carry on with the way you are please.

great app when it works with rubbish support
Have used the app on my iPhone for ages with great success. Particular like logging in with thumbprint as cannot remember the zillions if passcodes passwords I have for apps pc,s etc
Then I tried it on the iPad- works great when you login using the card reader but comes up with a Technical error - please restart the App
Call Nationwide - after eons waiting I got through to a very technically challenged lady who also didn’t listen. “If it is a problem with the iOS app it must be an issue that Apple themselves need to sort out”. And “you need to update your software “😡😡. After continually reminding her that the phone is using the same version of iOS she reluctantly agreed to speak to ‘system support’. - wouldn’t put me through. Came back to say it is a known issue caused by the device and told me to login via card , switch off finger recognition log out . Log back in again and switch recognition back on again. It now works
I pointed out to her that at no point did we do anything with the device - all changes made within their app. Also pointed out that no other app I use has this issue
I am not a cheerleader for Apple but it is a disgrace that banks can employ idiots to pass blame onto other companies without any comeback
Will see what happens when I launch a twitter attack on their customer service procedures 🧐
