Seems there is a glitch that is known about where devices don’t get recognised, or the system only allows one device, or something like that. The customer technical support is great, it’s fixed quickly and easily with one call and all gets back to normal. Have seen a lot of comments in the Apple Store, can only recommend to keep persisting and phone the support. Would also recommend only ever using one device, seems that should minimise the risk of a problem. Possibly not a perfect solution, but got to do our best, right!?

Whilst the app is alright - elements are large and clear, as a mortgage customer it doesn’t do much for me. It’s very good at showing me payments I have made which isn’t very helpful as they are pre-defined and don’t change. It’s also good at showing me the remaining balance of the mortgage but that’s not a fast moving milestone. It doesn’t show any indication of how much interest has been charged either each month or cumulative over the course of a year; a vital statistic for a borrowing product (the website is no better either). It also doesn’t allow overpayments. Overall it doesn’t really help with management of the product when it could do much more to help people manage their product. Information is essential for managing and understanding debt.

Edit: I wrote this review months ago. There have been no improvements in these key areas. I still have to write a letter to find out how much interest I’m paying and I still can’t make overpayments even though this was “coming soon”.

The app booted me out of my account today because I reached the device limit. I logged in to the Skipton website and eventually found the required page. It turned out I only had 2 registered devices so it made no sense I had to delete one of them to use the app. The app should allow users to have more than one registered device without having to jump through hoops.

In addition to this you have to add a nominated account to withdraw funds to. That should be really easy but it’s far from it. I can see loads of other reviews have said this and I wish I saw them before opening an account with Skipton. It look over an hour to eventually add my account due to Skipton logging me out every time I verified who I was using the app. This process is incredibly frustrating because this should be a really easy to do and it’s as if they have made it intentionally obstructive to make withdrawals.
