Cracking Broadband Constant 80mpbs

I have used a Vodaphone ‘ Sim
Only ‘ Mobile deal for a couple of years and Loved their Support, so I chose them as a Home Broadband provider and have benefitted from a nice discount on both services

I have a Green BT box virtually outside My house and I think My speed is supposed to be 62 or 65mpbs but from day one I nave had a consistent 80 Mpbs both on the Vofaphone app and several other speed testing sites

It is rock solid Never buffers or slows down and to be fair is as good as My girlfriends expensive Virgin fibre connection 🤣

I can download what I want without anything being blocked 😉👍 unlike some other Broadband providers are now doing ( Streaming Films etc via Pop#### etc )

I think but am Not 100 percent sure that the router is able to take a 5G SIM card modem ( USB port under a panel ) and that once 5G is enabled here I will be upgraded to Super fast 5G and drop the BT open reach cable

Enabling faster speeds and obviously less cost to Vodaphone as they would be using their own network ( just what someone told me was going to happen in the future ! )

I have had this 2.5 years now and cannot fault it in any way whatsoever, unlike friends that have had BT Talk Talk Sky Virgin etc 10 out of 10 £38 a month for home Broadband and unlimited mobile calls and texts with 20gbs of mobile data is as cheap as chips 🍟 or just excellent value for money whichever way you look at it

Security flaws let it down, otherwise good.

I love the automatic QR codes that are created when you change your broadband SSID or password on the guest network but there are two major security flaws as far as I’m concerned. No facial recognition function or fingerprint detection to enter the app so anyone using my iPad or phone, assuming I’ve unlocked it for them, can open the app and find out my SSID and password for my main WiFi. The other glaringly obvious exclusion is a block button for devices with MAC addresses which shouldn’t be on my network. I have a neighbour who was an experienced network engineer who also downloaded the Vodafone broadband app when he saw Vodafone appearing in his list of WiFi connections. He managed to connect his version of the Vodafone app to my WiFi either at the same time I was setting mine up via WPS or when I was attaching the booster to the main router. He now has visibility of my WiFi SSIDs and passwords via the app and I have found several MAC addresses connected to my router over the last couple of years as there is no Block functionality to stop rogue devices joining my network and entering my own devices and changing settings, copying information and changing passwords. I only hope the upcoming version of the app addresses these obvious flaws.

Generally great, but…

EDIT June 27th. Just had new iPhone 13. Same problems as detailed below, so it’s the app, not the phone. A developer response would be nice, please…

June 28th - update hasn’t fixed the issue. Do the developed not read this stuff?

Love the flexibility that the app gives (in a really nerdy way I was looking forward to naming my devices…), and it’s so nearly perfect, but… I changed the name of the Wi-Fi as soon as the hub was set up, so that I didn’t have to go around resetting all my devices around the house (of which there many!) However, this had the knock on effect that the app no longer recognises that any devices are actually connected to the hub (even though they are). Have spent ages in touch with Vodafone, who, to their credit, have tried several things, all to no avail. If I reset the hub they appear, but as soon as I disconnect and then reconnect (for instance, any time I go out) they vanish. Thought the update was going to fix it, but, alas, no. EDIT - it all went pear shaped, so I reset everything and used the default Vodafone Wi-Fi name. Made no difference. The app started to recognise that devices were connected, then just shows nothing connected. Completely pointless app
