Fast & Easy
I made a transfer to a bank account which is literally on the other side of the world and it was there in 5 minutes, impressive. I use other money transfer platforms like Transferwise. I usually compare the rates at the time that I’ll do the transfer and pick the cheapest one. But WesternUnion is becoming my primary one, since it’s the cheapest and fastest option.
Useless app and bad customer service
Tried sending money overseas and we keep on getting an email saying transaction got cancelled due to technical error. Money deducted already and when you call customer service, they are very rude as they try to talk you over when you try to ask questions and explain issues to them. They will say it was the bank who cancels the transactions. There was also a time when i sent money overseas and an email arrived saying transaction declined but my family received the money, no email confirmation or whatever. I also got an email where it says profile has been updated and when i called customer service to tell them that I did not do any profile updates and asked why I got that email, they just told me to leave everything as it is. No answer as to why I got an email regarding it. WU why bother put “contact us” when your customer service are either: a. hard to contact and b. rude and c. unable to solve issues.
Not always wonderful service
Reading previous one star reviews, I have had similar issues. However 95% of my transactions have been painless, but when it goes wrong it’s definitely a 0 out of 10 service. Messaged that transfer was cancelled because of technical difficulties and money would be refunded into my account. Two months and three phone calls later I now have to find an agent who has the cash to refund me. Last time this happened it took a visit to five agents before I found one who actually had the cash on hand.
Very much a case of we can take your money, but we don’t really want to give it back if things go pear-shaped.
Still using but always with a suspicious feeling it might go wrong.
