If you’re new to ASB, or we’ve asked for proof of ID or address, download the ASB ID app and verify who you are from the comfort of your home. Need to prove your ID? All you need is a valid e-passport, your ASB login details and a NFC compatible phone. If you don’t have a passport, you can use your NZ driver licence. The app will ask you to scan your ID and your face, selfie-style. Need to prove your address? Electronically verify your address by uploading a relevant document, follow the instructions in the app. Once your identity or address are verified and confirmed you can delete the ASB ID app. Download the ASB Mobile Banking app to manage your money on the go.

Works but not straight forward

Cordyceps
It is hit and miss. I almost gave up but be persistent. Each error tends to be about the angle/distance/approach. At first it said the issuer wasn’t valid (NZ passport) then it worked 3 time with the passport held a different way. The NFC part had many prompts so it’s important to follow the different messages but works. The face scan is freaky and worth persistence to experience.

To make things easier , I needed to scan my ID but for some reason it comes to a total failure, I don’t understand why , when yet my ID is valid and (NFC) chip is not damaged at all , this app is terrible ! Thanks a lot now I have to book an appointment just to do this small thing !

I set out to be annoyed when I downloaded this and wow was I impressed! Amazingly done, ridiculously easy to get the passport scanned and chip read successfully. It was seamless. I don’t bother ranking apps but that’s todo for this one. Well done ASB!!
