Room for improvement

After many years of debating, I finally bought my very first Clarisonic. I bought the MIA Smart on how it conveniently “tracks” your washing habits and you can sync routines to this app. After further reviewing these published reviews I was fairly concerned on the app within itself— but I still went ahead and downloaded this app. PROS: Setting up by MIA Smart was fairly easy to install and I haven’t experienced any crashing of the app. I do like the routine features that they offer and how you can adjust the times and intensity of each step. Additionally, if I wasn’t sure about the routine or how it should operate, I can simply look at the video tutorial they feature within that routine. Another thing that I like with the app is that there are timers that you can use that would help remind yourself to cleanse the face if you have a busy schedule or creating a good skin care habit like I am. CONS: The app within itself is very basic— in which, it’s a double edged sword on this situation. Consumers, very much like myself, are buying a SMART technology device that should express on its full capabilities. This app should help the MIA Smart, any current or future smart Clarisonic devices display its full functionality. I would like to see more routines on this app because I would like to see one that I can cleanse my face and neck and not have to press my MIA twice for cleansing. Additionally, although there’s a “tracker” of how many times I have used my MIA— there should be a calendar of when and what time I last used my device. Here, it would be convenient on how much of a habit I have been using on this device and to see whether or not I have cleansed my face during certain parts of my day. I love my Clarisonic after I have been using it for a few weeks, but I wish there were more features within the app that would help me with my routines and give the smart feature its full potential.

Useful, but Incomplete

I’m on my third Clarisonic device (nothing went wrong with them, I just kept upgrading) and was excited to jump on the Bluetooth connectivity wagon. I had no problem registering or syncing, experienced no crashing, and found some features in the app useful (the first thing I did was personalize routines), but there are lackings that keep this app mediocre.My biggest beef is that the brush heads listing is incomplete—in particular, it’s missing the sonic exfoliator. I use that to remove masks and, while there’s a mask removal routine, I can’t sync it to the head because it doesn’t exist, so I either have to fudge it with my usual head, which involves re-syncing my default routine and is a tedious pain, or not use the smart routine, which defeats the purpose of the routine. I keep hoping for an update to add the head, but no luck yet.My second biggest beef is that there’s no history. Sure, it’ll show you your streak, but there’s no way to see your prior cleansings. It’s valuable to me to see when I did what, and a streak number tells me nothing useful. It’s basically a tracker for trophies, which I really don’t care about.Honestly, I have a toothbrush with Bluetooth connectivity that offers more features; I was surprised and disappointed that the Clarisonic app couldn’t even provide as much as that.All told, it’s not a BAD app; there are just missing parts that keep it from being GOOD. I’m hopeful that there is some active developing going on to implement more functionality.

I just wish there was some sort of calendar view so you could see which days you used it and how many times on each day. I hope that’s a feature that rolls out soon. I got a really great deal on my Mia Smart (about 40% off) so it was a no brainer for me, but I would not recommend buying a Mia Smart given the current features in the app.

I had the same issues with the app crashing after the update. I emailed customer support and never received a response. After deleting the app and downloading it again, the app showed someone else’s profile-someone else’s pictures, someone else’s attachments, etc. Since I never received a response from customer support when I emailed in, I called. They had a very stock response of, “delete the app and download it again.” I explained that I did that already. They told me to set up a new profile. I explained that I could not do this, since you need an email address to set up a profile. My email address is already in use. The customer service rep said, “Don’t you have another email address that you can use?” I do but NOT the point. Extremely unhelpful! So, sorry to whomever out there that has had their pic, attachments, and routines deleted but Clarisonic could not help sort out the issues with their ridiculous app. Would not recommend the product to anyone because of the app.
