Ratings and ReviewsSee All
Original review: Please include an option to disable "updating hotlinks"! It takes FOREVER for my Feedly subscription and it's a premium feature that I don't even use. Rest of app is fairly good although the parallax effect on the article list images is a little disconcerting when scrolling.
Edits: After the author responded to let me know how to sort out the two abovementioned issues, the app is now very quick to start, article list scrolling looks better (to me, anyway) and I have added another star to the review. Updating cached images could be a bit faster though, maybe multithread the retrieval? Anyway. Great program, enjoying it so far. I'll hold back the last star due to the subscription model - this sort of thing is stupid for a feed reader, or a text editor or pretty much 90% of other apps. Make it a one-time payment to get premium and you might get that one last star. (I don't care what Apple "encourages" app authors to do - Apple has wayyyy enough money right now.)
Developer Response ,
You can disable the Hotlinks folder in the account settings. Fiery Feeds will skip the Updating Hotlinks phase if the folder is hidden.
There is also a (semi-public) Expert Settings screen. You can open it by tapping and holding the settings icon. There you can find an option to disable the parallax scrolling.
Update- Thank u for the response. I used the ID, as you had suggested. I am able to use the app on both devices now.
Love your app, and all your updates!
More navigation would be nice, there are so many options!!!
Is there a way to load all feeds from certain RSS’s? It’s an option in Feedly. Not sure about FF.
Love the app on my iPhone. I have the PREMIUM subscription...however, it is not working on my iPad. Keep getting prompts to purchase again! Family sharing is NOT WORKING for this app.
After few emails, the developer replied, I need to subscribe, restore or reinstall. I have tried all of these, w/no success. And, this was noted in my email, I have a current paid, subscription.
*Replied via email to developer, it’s not the same Apple ID, it is part of my family sharing. Again, this is the ONLY app I have this problem with.
Happy to update my review, when resolved. Waiting for response from developer...thank u
Developer Response ,
Please check your emails, since you don't seem to be receiving my responses.
Family sharing only works for purchased apps, and not for in app purchases or subscriptions, in any app. You need to login with the Apple ID with which you've purchased the subscription, and then restore it in the app. You should be able to switch back to your other Apple ID after restoring, until you renew the subscription.
My favorite RSS reader
I run my own rss server using ttrss. It was difficult finding a client I liked using without ending up with a poorly supported work around (the fever plugin for example).
Then I found Fiery Feeds. The app is gorgeous, provides tons of options, a plethora of supported platforms, awesome themes, and is a joy to use. The full text function is awesome for the truncated feeds. It’s hands down my favorite reading app on the iPhone.
It also supports read it later services like Pocket, Self-Hosted with wallabag, or its own built in service. The developer has been responsive to questions and feedback. I highly recommend you check it out if you’re looking for a great reader app. It’s definitely my favorite.
