more I’ve explored quite a few calendar and planner apps, especially those with a classic calendar look. Lately, I’ve been drawn to agenda-style planners, so I was thrilled to check out Finalist. After a couple months of use it’s become my go to app. I can confidently say Finalist strikes the perfect balance. It’s an amazing app that offers a lot of flexibility to suit different needs.Finalist draws inspiration from traditional paper planners and really embraces the Day Planner feel. Its standout feature is the Daily tab, which organizes all your calendar events and tasks. You can customize it to only show the information that matters most to you. The design is incredibly detailed, with great typography and color choices that help draw attention to the important stuff.Plus, Finalist works well with Apple’s Reminders in addition to its own tasks function. Between the two, I’ve been able to manage my to-do list very well. Finalist is so beautiful and thoughtfully designed that it makes me want to use it. It’s simplified my planning and made it easier to manage my day and get things done. Highly recommended!

This app has helped me so much in the past month of using it — and during a very devastating time in my life, where stress, fear, grief, and anxiety have stirred up extra with my ADHD. It has helped keeping up with my to do list, makes it easy to move unfinished tasks to the next day without making me feel guilty, and gives me a space to do some short journaling during the day. The free version is all I need, but I like the app so much I bought the lifetime to support the developer.
Developer Response Thank you so much for sharing that, I sympathize big time!

I have always struggled between using digital tools (which my ADHD brain doesn’t trust), and analog planners (which my ADHD brain misplaces), but now I’ve found the solution - Finalist! It puts all of my thoughts in a single day, whether they be work appointments or personal tasks or intentions or just simple “lines in the sand”. I completely trust the app to sync between platforms, as well as keep everything I need for a day right in front of me, while not overwhelming by me with info I don’t need.

With most apps in this domain, the top-level items are tasks, and tasks have (optional) due dates. With Finalist, the top-level items are days, and days have tasks and events. This might sound like I’m splitting semantic hairs but it gives Finalist a very different feel, one that’s more natural to me.I’m kind of blown away by how robust and thoughtful Finalist is. It’s not a web app with iOS and Mac clients. It’s a suite of native apps designed with care for Apple’s platforms.
