I’m a frequent flyer with Iberia. They are the worst airline in Europe. Period. The service is non existent, they will literally hang up on you if they can’t solve your issue. They hang up on me and I have gold status with them. Believe me, if there is another option to get you to and from Spain take it. I would pay 30% more to fly with anyone else just so I don’t have to deal with them. Their planes are dirty and the staff obviously all hate their jobs. If you bring them some chocolates you get treated especially well but why should I have to bribe these a holes to be treated well. If you are flying from/to America fly American Airlines. They have 787’s which are way better than the A330’s and actually give a crap about their customers. That’s not to say you won’t have issues potentially but at least they acknowledge your existence. Do. Not. Fly. Iberia.

Where to even begin? I flew with this airline once for a college study abroad and thought it was alright, but since then my view has only soured on it. Immediately after I booked my flight, I was locked out of my account. My password, email, and Iberia plus number did not work. I tried everything I possibly could to fix it and nothing.Eventually, after 2 weeks of back-and-forth with their TWITTER ACCOUNT—the only place I was able to reach them with any reliability and speed (though props to their Twitter rep(s), they were very good)—it was fixed. I could log in and change things on my laptop. Now, it’s the night before my flight, I go in to download my boarding pass—and I’m locked out again. Same story. Maybe this would work on a laptop? Maybe it’s only the mobile app that’s hopelessly broken? Maybe, despite being an international airline servicing flights to Spain, it only works for Spanish customers? Who knows. All I know is that I look forward to the day I can delete this app and never look back. Oh! AND, despite 2 REQUESTS, the boarding pass doesn’t show up in my email. AND this is my second time checking in, since clearly the first one didn’t go through.

FYI it’s not the emergency contact and their phone number, it’s your information. Several errors also with the contact number format, even though all I entered was a string of numbers. The app put the parentheses and dashes which I had to remove. Again no explanation, so I just guessed and removed them. There are so many issues with the airlines operations that have spilled over the three flights we have taken so far on this vacation. I could go on, but what’s the point?

All I can say is most of the time persistence pays off. You first fill out emergency contacts form which is required, then during checkin it asks for emergency information. FYI it’s not the emergency contact and their phone number, it’s your information. Several errors also with the contact number format, even though all I entered was a string of numbers. The app put the parentheses and dashes which I had to remove. Again no explanation, so I just guessed and removed them. There are so many issues with the airlines operations that have spilled over the three flights we have taken so far on this vacation. I could go on, but what’s the point?

They charge you to use the call center but the website is so bad you have to for all but the most routine issues. What a rip off. Overall, I would avoid Iberia all together. Expensive fights, old, crowded planes (LAX to Madrid was like flying an overcrowded Greyhound bus with the least space between seats in coach I’ve ever seen), bad web site, very inflexible change/ refund policy (we were charged a flight price differential changing from a more expensive flight to a less expensive flight!). We gave them a try; it wasn’t a good experience. We will not be flying them again.
