I joined the GTE credit union upon being hired as a teacher and learning about the services over twenty years ago. I have since retired an am fortunate to remain eligible for membership as I handle my financial matters beyond my teaching years.The scope and financial resources offered by GTE are multi-layered and sometimes learning and using them is complicated. I have learned, however, this is all guided by the commitment to remain a high quality resource that brings features, security and affordability to account holders like me who see this as a great benefit I would not be able to find through other commercial banking institutions at such affordable rates. Sure, the phone answering technology and recordings are awkward and impersonal. The banking institution, for a teacher, is imposing and less personal than when I first dealt personally and face-to-face in the previous north side office in Ocala just down the street from my high school teaching location. That was then, this is now. Once I do, however, work my way toward the right voice on the phone, the assistance is just as friendly and helpful as the contact that hasn’t, thank goodness, changed one bit. And when I enter the office in person, those smiling, friendly faces have not changed one bit in over twenty years. They’re informed, professional and make me feel like the most important person in the room - just as they did my first visit.

They took my MINOR SONS MONEY AFTER HIS MOTHER PASSED AWAY and told me there is nothing they can do to return it. She was the adult signer that is required for a minor child’s account and when she passed away unexpectedly at 39 years old, they used my sons account as an overdraft to cover an automatic debit bill that she had set up. This happened before we were able to get the death certificate and have her accounts closed and my name placed on his account instead of hers. I have been calling, emailing and stopping into the branch for 3 weeks while they dragged this out and keep telling me they are trying but it’s always another department or person that’s not in the branch to look you in the face when they tell you “ Sorry we are unable to return your sons $150 because of right to offset”. How heartless to keep a child’s entire paycheck from his job at the grocery store when he’s got enough to deal with losing his mother. I am beyond disgusted and will be closing all accounts with this cold hearted institution since all they care about is money or profit. How can you tell me somebody, somewhere in this organization won’t do the right thing for a 16 year old boy who had to pay his mothers final bill. Disgusting business practice. Do not give this company any business.

Have been using app error free since inception. Recently I started receiving following error message “Request has timed out” with Okay button. Pressing okay does nothing, screen continues to display the error. Closing app and reopening error continues to display. Have deleted app multiple times and still get same message. Waited 2 days last time before reinstalling and appeared everything was okay. Once I tried to go to different account, received the time out error message again with same issues. The automated chat is of no use. I ended up using the Internet version of app on phone.

GTE is a fantastic option to store your money, tons of benefits all the bells and whistles, but as far as the app goes it doesn’t really show your full account details like the website does. When I log in on browser I can view my accounts and information in its entirety, on the mobile app it’s limited and not nearly as much options and settings to choose from. Also the Face ID on the mobile banking does not work everytime that it should. Majority of the times I go on the app and it does nothing just showing the GTE symbol, even after waiting 10 minutes for it to do something nothing, so I will force close the app then re open and then the Face ID will immediately come up and start working again as it should. This becomes a frustrating situation because I have to force close app everytime if I want to get Face ID to simply work as it should. Otherwise I’m enjoying GTE so far but these problems definitely should be looked into its 2024 no reason Face ID and mobile banking services aren’t up to date with other competitors
