I’m almost 35 years old and was just diagnosed with ADHD last year. As someone who has had a problem focusing my entire life, this is the ONLY app I will forever use because it helps me organize my daily life to manage not only typical goals but to allow me the ability to quickly type in a thought or “to do” and then forget it and be able to at any time go back in and see what I need to complete in my day. It has everything!!! Allowing you to see what is overdue on your list and how many days you have had it on the list and also updating the day you want it completed easily and checking off that you’ve completed it. I could seriously go on and on about details to this app because every time I think of something it could change to be better; within a couple months of my thought the creator has already changed and updated the app to be even better. This will always be the one and only app that I don’t hesitate to renew each year because it is also affordable. If you like to organize, if you have ADHD or any other type of trouble focusing and can’t keep track of all of your thoughts and making lists on paper over and over again just to lost that paper, this app is for YOU!!!! My husband can download the app and login to share so he can also see what I need to be done so he is able to help me manage life. Seriously couldn’t give this app any other review other than everyone, and I mean everyone could use this in their life!
This. App. Is. Amazing.

I don’t typically write reviews but I feel compelled to do so on this as this app has turned my mental health around. I finally feel like I can declutter my head and have actionable plans. BuJo traditionalists will say you should bullet journal with pen and paper as there’s something magic that occurs in the brain with that method. I say you do you. I tried bullet journaling on paper but I just couldn’t do it. The perceived (by me) pressure to make it pretty and use colored pen sets and doodles just overwhelmed me. And I would forget to have my journal with me and subsequently forget what I needed to do or the thought would pass like dust in the wind never to be recorded or thought of again. I always have my phone with me so this just works. And it’s beautiful and simple yet so robust. I can list and sub list til my heart’s content. I can make things as simple or complex as I would like. I can organize by day, week, month, or year. And habit tracking too! I realized within 30 minutes of doing a brain dump that the price would be justified but that’s just it - the free version (at least as it stands as of the day I’m writing this review) is GOOD. (And there’s web and desktop versions!) I’m so thankful for the creator that I WANT to pay to support them!

I like the idea of Bullet Journals but the repetitive nature of the manual version takes way too much of my time, I quickly lose attention and find it difficult to keep things organized, defeating the purpose. I had this for two days when I decided to keep it. Once I figured out that I can make weekly, monthly and annual checklists that repeat, it was a game changer!! I figured out that I can take & organize notes. I went through the tutorial and one of the first things I did was start a list of my own titled “How to get the most from this App.” The only thing I am not fond of is the Habit Tracker. This is a personal issue with Habit Trackers in general and NOT an issue with the developer. I have had several over the years and they are great if you are trying to kick an addiction or do a particular thing each day. It doesn’t work so good if you are trying to, for example, start doing pushups every day and you haven’t worked out for a long time. You would like to get to a point where you can do 100 but right now you can only do 2. I personally would like to be able to track my progression each day without the stress of “not completing the ‘goal’.” So I figured out a way to do it with a prompt each day. I love the encouragement you get when you complete the day’s intentions. Telling a sugar addict to sneak a piece of chocolate though is like telling an alcoholic to have a glass of champagne. You might want to rethink a couple of those. Luckily it is not a trigger for me personally. My biggest fear is that Hamish will get bored and abandon it or worse sell it to a big corporation who only cares about profits and screws it up. I can’t wait to discover other ways it can help support my life! Thank you Hamish!

Hi! Thanks for the awesome review! Firstly, that's a really good suggestion about the motivational messages when you complete your tasks, I've already fixed that and replaced them with more appropriate ones. Regarding Habits, I plan to revamp them soonish - do you think making the goal optional would be beneficial? You can email me at hamish@bulletjournal.app I'd really appreciate hearing about your view on habits! And don't worry - Bullet isn't just a passion project :) it's also my sole income and I genuinely really love working on it!
This App is Phenomenal

I looked. And looked. And looked. For a basic app like this. I love pen and paper as much as the next lady, but the problem is that lugging a physical bullet journal isn’t practical. The system needs to be on your phone. I can see a weekly, monthly, or yearly view if I want—VERY clear. What I was really looking for was an app that I can open up and has today’s to-do list ready to go based on what I threw at it in the past. I was also looking for an app that would accept a hodgepodge of “I should do this this week” tasks and let me easily reference and pull down those tasks for the day so I can make sure to complete them. Migration is a breeze. Just swipe. No, really. It’s so easy. I don’t know why this is the only app that has this feature, but YES. All these other apps act like you can just plan out your day and stick to it. Nope. For most of us, life is one long interruption. I’m squeezing in the things I need to do in between all that. I need to quickly be able to make decisions without having to enter time ranges, make decisions about colors or icons, or worry about ridiculous typos or other interface crap. This app ALWAYS does what I want right away. It’s like it’s connected directly into my brain. I cannot overstate how excited I was to find this. It is everything for someone who needs a flexible way to keep track of TODOs and move them around as hassles arise. There are a lot of other cool features, too, but you can try it for yourself to see. Those are bonuses. And at only $4/month (less if you go annual) to keep my lists uncluttered, this was a no-brainer. THANK YOU for developing this amazing app!

Thank you so much for your incredible review! I'm glad that you get a lot out of Bullet and I'm hoping you'll enjoy the features that are coming to it over time. Bullet has always been about being minimal, quick, easy to access and easy to use so that you don't have to think about it. Contact me at hamish@bulletjournal.app if ever you have any other feedback. Much appreciated!
Mostly behind-the-scenes this time - I've been clearing out years of leftover cruft so I can move faster on what's coming. A redesign, more languages, and some AI bits are all in the oven. More on all that soon!
- Bullet opens more reliably
- Widgets stay up to date better
Thanks for using Bullet! Keep your feedback coming.
