This app is for use with Abbott rechargeable devices including the Eterna™ Spinal Cord Stimulation system and the Liberta RC™ DBS system. The Patient Controller (PC) Application was developed by Abbott for people living with chronic pain and movement disorders who are treated by Abbott neuromodulation devices. This application helps patients conveniently manage the programs prescribed by their physicians and uses Bluetooth® wireless technology to communicate between the implanted stimulator, Charger and the Patient Controller App. The Patient Controller Application runs on Abbott recommended devices (as mentioned below) and is easy to use, while the wireless interface provides patients the convenience of managing prescribed stimulation settings from a familiar iOS device. Some of the key functions available for patients include: - Turn stimulation ON/OFF - Select stimulation programs for changing therapy needs - Adjust stimulation amplitude - Check device battery - Monitor charging of the implanted stimulator - Adjust charger settings - Turn on MRI mode for MR Conditional systems - Activate and de-activate Surgery Mode In addition, NeuroSphere™ Virtual Clinic on the PC app enables users to connect with their clinicians for routine programming adjustments remotely. Secure in-app video chat enables telehealth sessions directly from within the PC application. When I bought into the stimulator the tipping point was that I was able to get the use of my iPhone 13 Pro. I’ve upgraded to the iPhone 15 Pro and after at least 6 months now I still can’t use it. Now I’m using this iPhone from the ages of before any of my grandchildren were born and I have 2 that have graduated from high schools and are half way through college. In fact to use it we were all 3 a little bit confused at first how to use it. Abbot you should be embarrassed to not have support out for the iPhones 15 & 16 Pros as they have been out now long enough that all my other apps that I use have upgraded theirs. Abbot get with the program here will you. If the Makers of the “FREE STYLE LIBRE 3” can have it their product able to Bluetooth to the iPhones mentioned then what’s your hold up. At LG east give some answers.

This device has been amazing for pain control for me. I do feel there could be more flexibility within the app itself. And what’s up with no iPhone 15 support?? And 6 month update gaps? Come on Abbot. A company your size with the amount of patients I’m sure you are serving should be turning out updates and at the very least patch fixes monthly for bug & crash issues. Overall good product but needs UPDATES & UPGRADE to iPhone 15 support please.

I have had my iPhone 16 for almost a year now and still your app will not work for iPhone 16. Even worse I tried to install on my wife’s iPhone 15 that she has had over 2 years, your app still does not support that. This is unacceptable. I don’t care if Abbot charged for the app, I would gladly pay for it. I can’t see that the amount of coding would be difficult or expensive so why hasn’t it been done. Do I need to implant a new spine stimulator from Boston Scientific or Medtronic? The iPhone that Abbot sold me with my charging kit no longer holds a charge. Now I have to try and find a phone that is 3 or 4 generations old. Updating your software is the logical answer for all concerned including the Abbot reps. I will be writing this review and calling the Abbot rep once a week now until Abbot decides to live in 2025 with the rest of us.

Update April 15, 2025An update came out today. Surely the now 1 year 7 month old iPhone 15 Pro would be on the approved list. But, alas, no. Unacceptable!! See below for my previous comments. ***********Now 11 months since iPhone 15 debut. Still no support. Ridiculous. ***********Oh, I was so hopeful when I saw the update today. But, still – after 5 months – no iPhone 15 Pro support! One of the selling points for me upgrading my controller to the Eterna was being able to use my own device. That worked great with my iPhone 13 Pro. When I upgraded to the iPhone 15 Pro, I didn’t even consider it not being compatible with this app. Now I’m no better off than I was with my 2007 controller and (at least) the big magnet. I still have to remember a separate device (the iPhone SE (2)). Abbott has had five months to fix this. If it’s something to do with Bluetooth, the FCC has had testing data since before the release of the iPhone 15 series. If not, taking 5 months to add the new phones to the app should be an embarrassment to the software engineers working on this app. Just a miffed customer and retired software engineer’s POV.
