I just bought my first car with a dealer installed Karr alarm. Immediately I was annoyed with the “two honk” unlock notification. I’m sure the neighborhood doesn’t want to hear when I unlock my car in the middle of the night. After I figured out that I needed to call customer service to send me login info (they didn’t have the correct address from the dealer), I was told that I wouldn’t be able to silently unlock my car with the key fob but I could with the app. What!? We’ll, that turned out to be wrong information. I was able to change the settings in the app to silence the honk notification but it is all or nothing. Either you get honks for both lock and unlock or you get silence for both. A nice update would be to allow you adjust independently. It would also be nice to retain normal car settings so that you could have silence for on the first lock button push and a honk for second lock button push. I’ll live with the silence for now.

User interface is much friendlier and intuitive compared to the previous app. Many issues I had with the previous version have been addressed with this app. It’s worth taking the time to update the details of your vehicle, especially if you have more than one KARR system. You can name the vehicle so you don’t need to guess which VIN is the vehicle you’re trying to access. A new helpful feature is you can save your license plate number, insurance info, and any additional coverages you have on your vehicle to this app - can save a lot of time if calling the police to report a stolen vehicle, all the info they will ask for will be in the same app used to track it’s location. So far the only improvement I would like to see to this app is if you can have multiple geofences active at the same time so you don’t need to go in the app every time you go between home and work to update which geofence you want active.

We only just installed the system, but already appreciate the attentiveness and help with got from our representative. Our dealer waited too long to get the activation processed so I called KARR directly and did it over the phone. The first install didn’t process on my end and she scheduled a tech for first thing the next morning. Later in the day when we tried to start our truck, it wouldn’t turn on! So right there I knew, “well at least we know it works and no one can steal the truck unless they tow it!” When we called back our rep was so patient and reassuring, and we went through the entire installation process again and this time it worked. I hope to never need their services due to theft, but appreciate the time they took to resolve the error and not have us wait for a technician to come out the next business day.

So I got this system more so for my security, if something happened I’d get money back (this is different from GAP from what the girl said) anyway, but honestly it comes with really cool features. It allows me to modify if I want alarm on or off, sound on or off and if something or someone hits my car I get notifications sent to my phone. It’s awesome. My FAVORITE tho has been the towing notification. It literally saves my life. I live in LA and it’s always packed, no parking and sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do, and I did but when they tried to mount my car I got a notification, was able to go out to my car in a giffy and was able to convince the guy to leave my car. AGAIN best thing ever! If you don’t have it - get it! From one LA girl to another.
