Use of MyChart
As a patient, I have been using the MyChart app since it’s beginnings with Edwards Hospital. It has been very helpful with quick responses, easy to review tests results and communications. In the last couple of years, especially in this last year, now that Epic seems to be in charge of the system, I have been confused and frustrated many times. I can no longer access past records and so my own monitoring and comparing of test results. This is a concern. Since I have had to change doctors in recent years due to people retiring mostly, I find it sometimes difficult to think ‘all’ the history and monitoring that has gone on between my doctors and myself. Now, I have trouble even finding past records of blood tests, among other testing. Due to the changes in MyChart, I don’t feel it is as helpful or reliable as it used to be — from a patient’s perspective. My doctors usually comment on how cognizant I am regarding my health. That’s very helpful to the doctors. But the changes in MyChart are not helping me to keep on top of my health.
This app is great but I feel like the interface feels a little outdated like when you have an upcoming appointment or it is an appointment you already did I feel it keeps reminding you of that appointment and when you tap dismiss it keeps coming back. I think that there should be a do not snow again option once tapped it will go away permanently.
It’s functions are outstanding and extremely helpful for communicating with care teams, maintaining appointments, video visits, etc;
THREE stars though for their useless “virtual assistant” who CANNOT BE TURNED OFF in the settings and is constantly popping up and blocking the screen. Even better, when you tap the X to get rid of it so you can get to what you need, it comes right back on the next screen.
For Pete’s sake, I can change the color on my icon (who cares) but I can’t turn off an annoying feature that prevents an otherwise positive experience. Seriously??!!
