The NissanConnect® EV & Services** app is designed especially for owners and drivers of the Nissan LEAF®. The NissanConnect EV & Services** app lets you manage the unique features of your LEAF like charging the battery, adjusting climate controls and checking the battery status, all from your mobile device. You can also personalize the app dashboard with the features that you use the most.
LEAF drivers require an active subscription to access the features of NissanConnect EV**, but it is complimentary for the first three years of ownership.
Model year 2018-2019 LEAF owners require an active subscription to NissanConnect EV with Services** powered by SiriusXM®. As an added security measure, a PIN is required before the Remote Door Lock/Unlock feature can be used. This PIN is established when enrolling in NissanConnect EV with Services**. If you have not yet enrolled in NissanConnect EV with Services** or need to reset your PIN, download the NissanConnect EV & Services app or visit www.owners.nissanusa.com.

Very slow, but works
Unlike some of the reviewers here, I’ve never had reliability issues with this app. Being able to climate control my 2019 Leaf before I get in – even with my garage door closed – is great, and every driver will demand this feature in 10 years. However, the app is painfully slow. On my iPhone XS, it takes 10 seconds to login. Then if I want to see the battery status, I hit the refresh button and wait 35 seconds. Switching to another app during these delays resets the process, so that I’ll have to wait through them again. Tesla’s app can do both of the steps in under 4 seconds.
In short, the app has good features, but the implementation needs significant work.
In the 10 months since I’ve owned the Nissan Leaf (2015) I’ve had this work two or three times, and after manually refreshing it over and over. The message pops up stating it’s not working and to call. I’ve called twice and was told to have the dealer update the firmware.
Well, I brought it in and it was stated that the firmware was current. Then, after hours and hours of fiddling with it and researching the issue, I discovered that resetting the TMU by removing its fuse and placing it back in would fix it for about a week, still requiring a couple refreshes within the app. The servers/network are sickeningly slow so you have to plan for a delay in either getting a SOC update or turning on your climate control. I’ve given up on expecting it to be useful.
I bought the car for two things: clean emissions (none), and the ability to remotely get data and enable the climate control. I would not have bought the car knowing that I couldn’t do one of these things. I’m likely going to sell the car because Nissan’s infrastructure is second rate. They used to be my favorite auto manufacturer too. Disappointed.
Remote climate control totally unreliable
After collecting our luggage after a 2.5 flight, I was pleased that I remembered to open this app and turn on the Climate Control so that our 2 year old and 4 year old kids, not to mention my wife and I, would have a heat respite waiting for us when the shuttle arrived at airport parking. Instead, we arrived to an oven. The outside air was registering on the dash as 104° and the interior was probably hotter. Melt-downs ensued as we stood outside the car waiting for it to cool down. Usually my wife drives this car and I drive a Tesla Model 3. If I had recalled how unreliable the remote climate control was on our 2016 Leaf, I would have gone to pickup the car myself. When will Nissan wake up and improve this app. The rating is terrible. Maybe we’ll replace the Leaf with another Model 3 at the end of the lease instead of exercising the option to buy. I had hoped maybe they would make some significant improvements over the course of our lease but that has unfortunately not been the case.
