Terrible bank. Don’t recommend.

If I could I would give them half a star honestly. I opened a savings account with them, chose the geological address system and after a week they blocked my account saying they wanted physics documentation that verifies my address. I submitted those documents but they claimed they did not receive them. I’ve continued to upload them as they refuse to take them via email even though they claim they aren’t receiving them on the app. I have to run after them to get my bank account unblocked and it’s been over a week now and I’m still dealing with the same issue. They are running around in circles without resolving my issue. I’m so discouraged, after they fix this issue I’m closing my account, worse mistake of my entire life.

Right idea, poor execution

The whole idea around a digital behavioural bank is great. However the real everyday client value is much over muchness. You can’t receive international currency, you don’t get any meaningful international assistance (expect a huge phone bill if you have to call them with any issue from overseas). Small simple things available with other banks in app aren’t with Discovery, things like changing where your OTP goes to (no e-Mail option, if you travel you’ll need to get a local sim at every destination to provide a cell number, then call their call centre at a huge expense to change it, then await a security call to authorise it, then wait for the actual process to execute on their end before your fancy card will work for online purchases), some things are ridiculous. There is no available e-mail correspondence and they give you the same old run around on the phone of department to department trying so solve a simple Problem, only up until recently you had to specially request stamped account statements, and because there is no physical branch for most things you have to simply call them and wait for them to sort out any issue you’re having and just trust that they are doing it.

Some great ideas, but they are still at the beginning of their learning curve and it can be very frustrating if you‘re on the flat end of the curve as a client needing a working bank card as I recently found out.

Pathetic customer service and the app is not user friendlly!

I’m very discouraged by Discovery bank. I have a credit card with them and use it as a debit card, making sure I always either deposit money before or after using the one on the card to make sure I’m not owing them). However from March this year I have been seeing weird debit transfers from supposedly the main credit card account to the budget facility, random amounts daily. It’s so confusing and I dnt even understand what is happening on my account. I tried calling the call centre today and they just told me that they have system issues with debits going off from the main accounts to a budget facility and are currently investigating(no communication to clients on this whatsoever). They couldn’t even explain thoroughly what is actually happening in my account like other Banks would:( I’m super confused and frustrated! The app is very confusing, you dnt even understand what is happening on the many accounts added there. I feel like I’ve lost control of my money as I do not understand what is happening there! I do not even know when I’m getting feedback regarding my query😭 disappointing discovery!!! I’m cancelling this card very soon, I cannot go on like this!!!
