I’ve had this service for 5 years before contract expired & anytime I used to call (not often) I got a live real person. They didn’t have many installers in my area so took awhile. Now, when contract ended, & after I ck’d for other providers only 1 was compromable to NorthStar on the price. I decided to stay with NorthStar because they have more installers & merged with another company to have more workers & still took long time to get someone. Now, when I call, there is no real person on other end, but a recording. If I hadn’t have gotten a specific person to go directly to, I wouldn’t have got to talk to anyone. Now that person no longer takes any of my calls cuz the Acct was given to someone else. The guy who installed new box was nice but felt he was very rushed & so he didn’t do everything correctly & he didn’t pair my key fob . Plus now the most annoying thing happens. You use key fob, turning system on or off, it has a Very LOUD sound when turning on or off. I asked about it & the guy said people weren’t hearing it outside door. We HATE it. It’s way TOO Loud. Everyone jumps or hurts the ears when using it. I don’t want to walk across 2 rooms & down the hallway just to do it by hand. The guy laughed when I told him that. If people are hard of hearing, then make the system adjustable to turn sound up or down. I will not continue using them when contract is up. I will pay $10 more a month to have a better company to deal with. 😠 and now it’s not up to date as to who just logged in or out, it’s a day behind on the app.

2020 Lois 5 yr contract
The guy that signed me up for services, failed to tell me I was signing a 5 year contract. I never read nor signed anything stating 5 year services. I asked for my contract to me emailed to me, after asking for it for a little over a year, I received it. Carefully reading each line. The place that has how many years was never signed. So therefore the company realized that I’m not lying, however I’m still told my contract is for 5 years. Moving on to the next problems... my SkyBell stopped working Im charged for the company to come out and repair. My camera went out twice. The first time I was aware and charged. The second time I didn’t realize until my vehicle was hit while parked in front of my house. I just knew I would be able to capture this incident on my camera. Come to find out that the camera was not working ugh. I’m really upset. Paying $90 a month which is a little pricey now that i think about it, and camera not even working. So I called, called, and called finally got someone and to my surprise that someone that I was talking must have been having a bad day, but not as bad as mine when you paying for security and protection and it’s not available, the customer service guy told me why didn’t I call when the camera first went out. I explained that I don’t look at my camera everyday. I only look at them when something happens. I didn’t know that the newly installed camera was a temporary camera. It had not been a full year of the second fix to the same camera. I could keep going about it took over a month to get camera ordered and installed and how workers or over worked and has to rush. Hope this give someone an ideal or what not to get themselves into. Don’t be out in this situation read the reviews of this company, I’m sure you will get the answer you’re looking far and that’s yo run the opposite way and save your $$$.

I am extremely sorry I chose Northstar Alarm, absolutely the worst company I have ever dealt with. Customer service is not empathetic to any situation presented. My dilemma started October 2019 when I moved to a new house I informed Northstar from the very beginning in May that I was planning on moving I was informed at that time that it would only cost $149 and they could move my equipment and my service to the new residence. I called them in September stating that I would be moving in October at that time they wanted me to have the buyer of my house to finish the contract which I did have the buyer contact them with interest of of having NORTHSTAR as their alarm service for some reason the deal did not go through probably because of the attitude that NORTHSTAR employees present. I made my move I called to let them know my new residence and the only way that I can get service now is by signing a new five-year agreement or paying approximately $3000 to have service. I am willing to pay the $149 for movement or I am willing to have the minimum amount of equipment so that I can get some type of service from the money I am spending but NORTHSTAR is unwilling to do anything I am in the process of going to court because I am still having payments deducted with no service at all. With the service that I have received from NORTHSTAR they do not deserve even one star but that’s all I could give in order to have my story given to the public.

I have had issues with my Northstar security systems for MONTHS now. From the doorbell that ONLY rings on my phone (which doesn’t even work anymore) to the sensors not working, to the whole concept of being tied down for 5 years...I am not happy. I finally served my 3 years with ADT and got out as soon as I could, just for some salesman to come in and convince me that Northstar was different and that I wouldn’t regret my decision....I like any other human being want to protect my family, so security systems seem like the logical path to go. I’ve been so displeased with my system since making the purchase that I don’t even use it anymore. I’ve called several times to try and get these issues fixed...but always get the run around or get told “I’m not the person who can do that function for you...call this number” I’ve been trying to get this fixed and I have been honoring my end of the bargain (ie paying $60+ a month for a security system that I don’t even use) while the reps st Northstar aren’t living up to their end...why should I be forced to live up to my end of the bargain (and be trapped in a 5 year contract) and Northstar doesn’t have to live up to their end...which is timely and exemplary customer service and blah blah... go for Simply Safe and stop letting these companies run you dry and tie you down with contracts!!!
