I have used Publix Pharmacies to fill my prescription for 20 plus years if not longer and many different ones in the Sarasota fl area depending on where I was living at the time and for the past 5 years have been going to Publix Pharmacy at University Walk and I absolutely love the staff and pharmacist there and i can honestly say without a doubt that everyone who works in the department are the most friendliest and will go out there way to make sure you get the best possible service and I know they probably have customers thru out the day who can be difficult for no reason at all and I have seen it first hand and they still show them professionalism and a friendly smile and that’s the kind of customer service that keeps me coming back and as long as I live right the street they will always be my favorite Publix Pharmacy and hands down best experience I have had out all of them in the Sarasota area! I transferred from another major pharmacy several years ago to Publix. They have been the best pharmacy I have ever had. The previous pharmacy would not have my medication that I get every month for the past 24 years. They would have me running all over Jax to their different locations trying to get my my prescription filled. I have never went to Publix & not be able to access my meds. Everyone from the pharmacist to the techs have been kind & professional. The app is so convenient to request refills as well, and to see what medications I have available. Hope I never have to change pharmacy’s.

I mean it’s helpful exclusively for knowing your prescription has been received by the pharmacy and when it’s ready for pick up. If you only ever deal with your own prescriptions and they’re minimal with no issues ever- 5 stars! However if there’s ever an issue filling the prescription, don’t expect any information as to why. I suppose it depends on the pharmacy, but if there’s ever an issue filling a prescription (unusually high copay, insurance coverage, out of stock, too early to fill, etc.) the status will sit under “In Process” indefinitely without anyone contacting you. Sure, you’ll get a vague text or email with a button to “see more details” that just goes to the pharmacy website login page but there are no actual “more details”. You’ll have to call the pharmacy anyway to work it out - hopefully not during the lunch break! - which kind of diminishes the value of a mobile app. You also can’t manage another adult’s prescription(s) under the same login “because of HIPAA” even though most other pharmacy apps allow this. It’s fine. But other pharmacies have a much more helpful app that keep me from having to bug an overwhelmed pharmacist for simple questions.

Needs to support other elderly family members

Update: a Publix pharmacist helped us navigate this issue. See below for original concern. You can do this setup for elderly family member but you have to log yourself out of the app first and then use a unique email address for the elderly person. That worked. It would be nice for this to be more seamless for supporting others - like it supports minors in the household but this is better than nothing. Original post: The app is very good except one glaring omission that I suppose is tied to PHI laws. The problem is a lot of families have the responsibility to refill our elderly parents meds and they don’t have smartphones or any tech skills. So they can’t have the app. The ability to have another family member who is not a minor added to the account in the app would be so useful. Just the ability to see if a med is refillable easily would be so helpful in this scenario. This prevents having to call the pharmacy as much. Especially for our elderly who don’t live with us but we have to get their refills. Please figure out a way to add this feature!
