We had very expensive roller shades put in, all motorized. The motors we got were not compatible with Apple HomeKit at the time of install so we’ve had to use this app extensively. It’s fairly straightforward to use, but setup was a nightmare. Took multiple attempts before it connected with my hub unit. The big complaints we have are that 1) you don’t have great scheduling capabilities. I’d like to be able to schedule non-smart home compatible rollers. If the app can tell it to go up and down, why can’t it tell it to go up and down at set times? 2) it would be great if the screen that shows you all the roller shades together on one screen could allow you to open and close them with one tap. I want to be able to see all 6 of my motors in one screen and tap them to go up and down. As it is, you have to dive into a third layer to open and close each one and that extra layer is pointless.

Well, I was very frustrated at first with the new app because it was different and it’s not as user-friendly initially. Once I got the hang of it and understood how to use it. I’m loving it. The biggest reason I like this app more than the old app is because you can now raise and lower groups to all stop at the same time and be level instead of having to do that individually. That was a much needed update as before if you wanted everything to stop at the same level midway, you had to use the remote and whatever was programmed to that remote. Since we have multiple different groups, it was not cool that I had to raise and lower certain groups individually. The new app fixes that. I still wish there was a way to program groups to raise and lower at a certain point instead of having to go all the way open or all the way close. Maybe a future update will allow for that.

The app doesn’t give you an indication of the current state of the shades. So if you are remote you cannot tell by looking at the app whether the shade is fully open, partially open or closed. Also when you click on “open all” it doesn’t allow you to go to your “MY” position which is partially open on all the shades. Lastly I have had intermittent issues where I command a group of shades to open and one of the shades in the group doesn’t open. I have to command that shade separately. I can’t figure out why this happens periodically. If I were remote I would have no idea that one of the shades didn’t open.

I’m terribly disappointed with Somfy’s app for controlling my motor shades. I use the Automate system in a different location (w/ different shade motors) and the programmability in the app is much better.My biggest issue (of several) is the incredibly small amount of offset time allowed to program with sunrise/sunset. A major purpose of automated shades is controlling sun exposure in a room and +/- 45 minutes in not nearly enough time to do this properly. Instead I have to choose a time in the day and input it and then routinely adjust the time based on the length of the day (and I usually change it after it’s too late).The Automate app gives me several hours to offset shade function so it always works perfectly all year long - regardless of the length of the day.It’s very disappointing that Somfy doesn’t get this right (as I’ll bet it is a relatively easy thing to program into the app)…
